RX-Precal (using shape information)

Precal is usfefull for all RX lenses (SV or multifocal) as long as one main meridian has a positive value

All RX lenses will be manufactured using Precal (center thickness – diameter reduction) as per your input at no additional charge.

Lens height for progressive lenses with one positive main meridian without special requests will be reduced as follows:

– down to 62 mm for regular diameter of 70 mm. – down to 66 mm for regular diameter of 75 mm.

Using a shape drawing for RX lenses based on the frame pattern, the following information is required:

– boxing size of frame. – desired edge thickness or thickness at drill holes. – pattern center. – Same info needed for left eye if values differ from right lens

SV lenses: Optical refernece point

Bifocal lenses: Height and center of bifocal section.

Progressive lenses: Position of fitting cross distance.

CE-CONFORMITY

As of 14. June 1998 the Medical Product Regulation (MepV) became obligatory for Switzerland which became effective on 1. April 1994. The ordinance is based on regulation 93/42/EWG. In Switzerland only optical lenses that meet these requirements (Medical Product Ordinance Class 1) can be sold, fulfilling norms EN/ISO 14889, EN 8980-1 & 2 and ISA/DIS 8980-3.

As the distributor/seller of such lenses the optometrist / optician is required as per MepV to inform the customer of the following tips and usage information of such products:

1. Usage restrictions of optical lenses while driving or operating machinery:

Lenses for driving are classified as follows:

– Transmission below 8% = generally unsuitable for driving. – Transmission below 75% = unsuitable at night or dark conditions for driving. – Tints which do not allow for correct color recognition of traffic lights are unsuitable for driving-

– Color and transmission deviations of third-party tints cannot be classified by us. In general we deem them as unsuitable for driving.

– Lenses mainly designed for intermediate distances or SV lenses for near distances only are labeled: Not recommended for driving.

2. Information and usage restrictions in regard to transmission of photochromatic, gradient or sunglass lenses.
