FINDING THE ANSWER TO HIP, KNEE, & LEG PAIN RELIEF

Your hips, knees, and lower legs are tough—but injuries happen. Your hips and knees are your largest joints, supporting your body’s weight. They work in close coordination, giving us the mobility we need. Between arthritis, injuries and age, however, pain can flare up. If you’re experiencing hip, knee or leg pain, call us to schedule a closer look. Before you do, however, let’s examine the pain itself. What Causes Hip, Knee and Leg Pain? Hip, knee and leg pain are surprisingly common. Thus, their source can come from a variety of things. If you’re experiencing pain in any part of your leg, pinpointing the exact spot can help you determine the cause. Mayo Clinic has pinpointed several leading causes of hip, knee and leg pain. While many causes exist, the most likely are:

Hip and knee pain does not have to arise from sports injuries. People can suffer from hip and knee pain due to normal wear and tear and arthritis. A therapist can help to determine where the pain can be coming from and you don’t even need to see a doctor first. What Are the Symptoms? While leg pain is noticeable by a slew of symptoms, several stick out. Aching or stiffness around the hip, groin, back or thigh may be a sign of deeper problems. A decreased range of motion can also be a sign of deeper problems which may later result in hip, knee or leg pain. Sometimes, inactivity can contribute to immobility—and later pain. If you’re limping, lurching or are experiencing bad balance, contact a physician. While some hip, knee and leg pains go away, those lasting longer than several months may be hinting at a deeper issue. Contact us today or visit us at equilibriummassagetherapy.ca to schedule an appointment. We can help you recover from your hip, knee, and leg pain.

Take a large step forward with one leg, keeping your back foot in starting position while rolling onto your toes. Keep your spine straight and your forward and back knees bent, so that you make right angles with your hip, knee, and ankle. As you lunge, you should feel a stretch across the front of the hip and thigh. Hold for 30 seconds and repeat 2-5 times.

AT EQUILIBRIUM, RECOVERY IS YOURS In many cases, therapy can help patients quickly recover from an injury and get back to what they love to do. In doing so, they can stretch, flex and strengthen the muscles responsible for support. If a joint appears deformed, or if sudden swelling occurs, contact a physician immediately. A typical therapy session will start with a comprehensive evaluation of your entire lower body, looking for the exact source of your problem. Your therapist will customize a treatment plan to address areas of stiffness, weakness, tightness, and pain. On every level, therapy serves to enhance the patient’s quality of life. We’re here to help, and we have years of experience backing every therapy option.

“I went to equilibrium as a recommendation by a friend. I had my first massage and it was amazing! Brenly targeted all the spots that were tight and was very careful on my tender muscles. I left without paying a dime because they direct billed my insurance provider! This experience was so awesome that I decided to try Acupuncture. Kat was amazing and she explained what she was doing and why. She asked questions, targeted areas that were important to me, and even took away a lot of the pain in my neck from working at a desk all day. I noticed they also have a chiropractor!! So I made an appointment to see Dr. Marc! I left there feeling like a whole new human! THANK YOU EQUILIBRIUM!!! Best decision ever!”

CHIROPRACTIC FEATURED SERVICE

ACUPUNCTURE FEATURED SERVICE

What is a Chiropractor and What Do They Do? A chiropractor is a registered health care professional specializing in relieving back, neck, and soft tissue pain primarily through manual (hands-on)manipulationofthebody’smusculoskeletalstructure (spinal adjustments, inotherwords).Chiropractorscombinespinaladjustment techniques with joint manipulation, soft tissue therapy, rehabilitation exercises, and more to provide pain relief, movement and optimal function for theirpatients.Essentially, chiropractors find therootcause of your pain by zeroing in on your joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons andbones.Chiropracticproceduresaretypically intendedtoprovide fast pain relief for muscles, joints, bones and connective tissues (cartilage, ligaments and tendons), for making sure that pain doesn’t return and optimizing function through movement. Many people view seeing a chiropractor as a welcome alternative to taking drugs or undergoing invasive surgeries. Seeing a chiropractor is often recommended as the first step in a longer healing process and is often combined with physiotherapy and/ or massage therapy. For example, people experiencing dull or sudden inexplicable muscle strain, headaches, or pain in their neck, arms, and legs, oftenstartbyseeingachiropractor todiagnose, analyzeandbreak down theirpain,so theyarereceivingappropriatecaremoving forward. When Do You Need a Chiropractor? If you’ve got back pain from sitting all day at work, neck pain from sleeping the wrong way or chronic pain that never seems to go away. If you’ve been injured in a car accident or have suffered a sports-related or work injury, a chiropractor can be a good first step in relieving your pain and discomfort.

What is Acupuncture? Acupuncture is one of the principal branches of traditional Chinese medicine,acomplete,holisticandnon-invasivemedicalsystemthathas evolved over 3000 years to diagnose, treat and prevent illness, promote health,andalleviatepain.Acupuncturere-balancestheenergeticsystem of the body and supports the body’s capacity to heal itself. By alleviating symptoms and treating the underlying cause of disease, acupuncture returns the body, mind and spirit to a balanced state. How Does Acupuncture Work? Traditional acupuncture is based on ancient Chinese theories of the flow of Qi (chee) and blood through energetic pathways in the body referred to as meridians. Qi is the animating force that gives us our capacity to move, think, and feel. Qi regulates the physical, emotional, mentalandspiritualharmonyof thebodybykeeping theenergetic flows in balance. Imbalances and blockages of the body’s Qi are the root of disease processes. These imbalances may be caused by physical and emotional trauma, lack of exercise, poor nutrition, and chronic stress. Meridians circulate life-giving nourishment in the form of Qi and blood to every part of the body. Certain points on the body act as gateways to access and regulate the Qi via the insertion of very fine needles. What Does Acupuncture Treat? Acupuncture effectively treats a broad range of acute and chronic conditions and provides preventative care. Some conditions that acupuncture can benefit include but are not limited to: pain relief, stressmanagement,pre-natalandpost-natalcare,healthmaintenance, muscular and neurological disorders, as well as conditions such as arthritis and headaches.
