EXPLO’S ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE

Whether traveling by plane, bus, or car, all students should plan to arrive at EXPLO and depart campus at the close of the session within the designated Arrival and Departure time windows. For students who must travel outside the Arrival and Departure windows, families may need to arrange private transportation to and from campus. PLEASE NOTE — we cannot accommodate early arrivals. EXPLO is not responsible for the supervision of any student arriving at the airport or train station, or on the Colby College campus before stated arrival times.

Arrival and Departure happens at Diamond Hall, Colby College, in Waterville, Maine.

TRAVEL BY BUS FROM NORWOOD, MA Our aim is to make getting to Colby as easy as possible for fam- ilies. We will offer bus transportation from our headquarters at the Exploration Center in Norwood, MA to Waterville, Maine. Shuttles will be available between 12:00 noon and 6:00 p.m. on Arrival Day. Between COVID-19 testing and health checks prior to boarding, masking, excellent cabin ventilation, and extra spacing between students by limiting bus capacity, we are confident students can safely take the bus.

SHUTTLE TO/FROM THE AIRPORT Shuttles will take students from Logan Airport on Arrival Day, and back to Logan when it’s time to go home. Our staff will assist students to airport security and will remain at the airport until all flights have departed.

• There is a $75 fee each way for EXPLO shuttle service to and/ or from the Airport

• If transportation is needed outside of the shuttle window, EXPLO can help coordinate transportation with an outside travel partner, but there may be increased wait times and/ or additional costs

• Upon arrival, students will be administered rapid antigen and PCR tests for COVID-19

• Fly into Logan Airport (BOS) in Boston in order to take advantage of our airport shuttle service (please note that EXPLO does not provide transportation to/from any other area airports) • Is your child flying solo? Note About Unaccompanied Minors EXPLO Pre-College + Career families are discouraged from using Unaccompanied Minor services, if at all avoidable. The service can significantly complicate arrival and/or departure logistics, necessitating complex, last-minute communication between families, the airline, and EXPLO in the days and hours before the flight. Unaccompanied Minor related issues can also increase student wait times at the airport. If students must fly with Unaccompanied Minor service as a requirement of the airline, then EXPLO Pre-College + Career staff can accommodate pick-up. However, families should anticipate additional coordination with our staff in the days and hours before the flight.
