Be sure to check the specific dates and time windows for your program, as each varies by program and session.

EXPLO’S ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE

Whether traveling by plane or car, all students should plan to arrive on the first day, and depart campus at the close of the session within the designated Arrival and Departure windows. EXPLO will provide transportation ($75 each way) to and from campus for students flying within this window. For students who must travel outside the Arrival and Departure windows, families may need to arrange for private transportation to and from campus. PLEASE NOTE — we cannot accommodate early arrivals. EXPLO is not responsible for the supervision of any student arriving on the Wheaton campus before 1:00 p.m. on Arrival Day.

Please note: Be sure to use the GPS address above when driving to our summer campus at Wheaton College (not the Exploration Center in Norwood, MA).

TRAVEL BY PLANE

SHUTTLE TO/FROM LOGAN AIRPORT EXPLO staff members will transport students from Logan Airport to Wheaton on Arrival Day, and back to Logan Airport on Departure Day when it’s time to fly home.

EXPLO Grades 4-7 is best accessed by Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).

When booking your travel or your child’s flight to EXPLO, please check flight windows on the Arrival and Departure Schedule on page 1. Is Your Child Flying Solo? For students flying alone, please be assured that EXPLO staff will help them at every step of the travel process, from airport pick-up to arrival on campus. • Fly as an Unaccompanied Minor — only children flying as Unaccompanied Minors may be met at their gates by EXPLO staff • Students will be met at the gate by one of our staff members, who will be wearing an orange EXPLO T-shirt and an EXPLO ID lanyard. If arriving early, students will remain at the gate with airline staff

• There is a $75 fee each way for EXPLO’s transportation service

• Students may spend extra time at the airport (before or after departure or arrival) depending on the other students’ flight times to optimize efficiency and travel time to and from campus • If transportation is needed outside of the shuttle window, EXPLO can help coordinate transportation, but there may be significant wait times at the airport • Flying with your child? Due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, parents may not travel with their student(s) from Logan Airport to the Wheaton campus • Flying Home – our staff will stay with students until their flight departs or until they have formally been placed in custody of airline staff members (for Unaccompanied Minor service)

• Students flying alone will call their parents/guardians from the Main Office upon arrival at Wheaton

• Getting to the EXPLO campus: once a child is in custody of an EXPLO staff member, they will collect their luggage and transport the student to campus with other EXPLO staff and students

• If at any point there are questions or concerns, your child may call the EXPLO Main Office at 508.286.5868

Note About Unaccompanied Minors Please book your child as an Unaccompanied Minor – due to increased security measures at Logan Airport, only children flying as Unaccompanied Minors may be met at their gates.

All Unaccompanied Minor Fees must be paid to the airline in advance of travel.

In the event that the airline does not accept payment in advance, pleas contact our Admission Office to notify them to expect a fee upon arrival to the airport on departure day.
