2018 MEN’S SPRING & SUMMER ‘A’ TEAMS

The Virginia State Golf Association Men’s Regular A-team spring season for Northern Virginia will start in late March/early April, and the Washington Metropolitan Golf Association Regular A-team summer season takes place in July. All matches played at scratch. The 2-day A-team tryout will be held on Saturday, 10 March and Sunday, 11 March at ARL. If you can play both days that would be great, but we recommend definitely playing one of the two days. At the completion of the 2 tryout rounds, the team roster for Spring 2018 will be set. If have any questions about the ANCC Men’s ‘A’ Team, please contact co-captains, Steve Galing, at (703) 407-0703 or [email protected] , or Matt Bravo at (703) 927-7172 or [email protected] .

2 0 1 8 Senior Men’s Golf Organization

2018 Northern Virginia Retired Men’s Golf Association (NVRMGA)

Don’t miss out on a great experience of playing local country club courses. If you are 55 or older, you can become a member of the NVRMGA and do just that! ANCC will field two separate teams, one at Arlington and one at Fairfax. Both teams are always looking for new players. The ANCC Arlington team was the league champion in 2010 and 2015 and the ANCC Arlington and Fairfax teams were co-champions in 2011. In 2017, the ARL team was again crowned League Champion! And the FFX team finished in a tie for sixth place. Both teams are looking forward to successful seasons in 2018. The 2018 ANCC teams will be put together within the next few months, so there is still plenty of time for you to sign up. HOW? Sign up here before 31 January 2018 for the ARL Team and here by 1 March 2018 for the FFX Team or by visiting the NVRMGA page under Golf Organizations. Even if you were a NVRMGA player last year, it is required you sign-up again this year. A contact list will be posted on the golf bulletin board in each ANCC pro shop whereby eligible ANCC golfers not currently part of a team, but wishing to join us in 2018, can express interest. How does NVRMGA work? New in 2018, the League will be organized into 3 regions - Eastern, Central and Western with ARL in the Eastern and FFX in the Central. We will play each of 10 opposing teams twice, once at home and once away between early April and late September. The League Champion will be determined by a four-team playoff (three region champions and one wildcard team) during the first two weeks of October. Play is on Thursdays, teeing off at 8:45 AM. As a team member, you will be assigned to play in 5 or 6 matches and have the opportunity to volunteer as a substitute for matches to which you are not assigned. A schedule will be available in early February for ARL and early March for FFX indicating which matches you have been assigned. These are handicap matches - no need to worry about your current handicap index. If you would like more information for ARL , please contact Mike Downs (703) 317-1822 [email protected] Nick Fritz (703) 553-4435 [email protected] Jim Schroeder (703) 237-1939 [email protected] For FFX information, please contact Verne Wattawa (703) 433-9279 [email protected] Rich Barkell (703) 442-0932 [email protected] Mike Golembieski (703) 643-1444 [email protected] Please sign-up as soon as possible!

The Senior Men’s Golf Organization (SMGO) invites all ANCC members age 55 and over to participate in our men’s senior golf program. This is organized play that develops new friendships and enhances your enjoyment of the game of golf and Club facilities. The SMGO program features an ABCD scramble at 8:30 AM on the first and third Wednesday of each month at the ARL course commencing in April and continuing through October. Other tournaments may be scheduled when play dates are available. All ANCC members are welcome regardless of their handicap. If you were a member in 2017, your membership will automatically be renewed for 2018. A sign-up list for new members of the SMGO will be posted in the ARL Golf Shop by December 1, 2017. If you do not want to participate in 2018, please indicate your decision to be deleted on the sign-up sheet at the ARL Golf Shop or you may contact Peter Junghans at [email protected] or (703) 836-7966. New members who may be leaving the area for the winter are encouraged to sign-up prior to departing. The 2018 dues level will be set prior to the opening of the season. Dues cover the cost of the lunch in the Clubhouse at the completion of each of the 14 ABCD Scrambles...best deal in town!! Standard cart fees are charged for each event in which a member participates. A $10 entry fee is collected at each event for the prize pool, a dues augmentation and for the cost of coffee and pastries available at each ABCD Scramble check-in. 2018 WMGA SENIOR MEN’S ‘A’ TEAM The Washington Metropolitan Golf Association Senior ‘A’ Team competition matches will begin in April and continue into the first part of May as needed. Division winners will proceed on to play single elimination quarter, semi-final, and final matches. We need the best senior golfers, age 55 and over, to represent Army Navy Country Club. Selection criteria for the team matches will be based on the 1 April 2018 handicaps (which are expected to be current and accurate). All matches are played at scratch. If you have a handicap of 6 or below and are interested in being considered for the team, please contact the team co-captains, Bill Engel at (703) 899-0091 or [email protected] , or Peter Jacobi at (571) 276-6256 or [email protected] .
