Several months ago, we wrote to you about the 75th Annual Meeting of the Midwestern Legislative Conference (MLC) of The Council of State Governments, which is coming to our state this summer (July 11-14, 2021). At that time, we asked you to consider becoming a sponsor of the conference. This letter is to follow up on that request. We are honored to be hosting this year’s MLC Annual Meeting in Rapid City, and we look forward to being able to showcase our state to hundreds of visiting legislators from across the Midwest. The MLC Annual Meeting is an important opportunity for lawmakers from around the region to discuss and learn about some of the major policy issues facing state government, and we hope you will join us for these conversations. We have an outstanding program in the works, including sessions that will examine a wide range of key issues shaping Midwestern legislative agendas. The preliminary program for this year’s conference will be included in the annual meeting registration materials, which will be mailed out in March. The MLC’s seven policy committees — Agriculture and Natural Resources; Criminal Justice and Public Safety; Economic Development; Education; Fiscal Affairs; Health and Human Services; and Midwest-Canada Relations — will also meet during the conference to discuss topics within their subject areas. All meetings are open to conference participants. The conference will also include special programming for spouses and youth, as well as evening events for all attendees. The social program will include visits to Mount Rushmore and other area attractions, and we hope that many who attend the meeting will spend some time before or after the conference visiting other sites in the Black Hills and around the state. The enclosed contribution reply form lists the sponsorship levels and the corresponding complimentary registrations and other benefits that are included with each level. Contributors will also be invited to a special reception during the conference on Tuesday, July 13, and all meeting sponsors will be acknowledged in the conference program. Please note that all meeting sponsors who pledge their support by February 12, 2021, will also be recognized in the annual meeting registration mailing. To confirm your participation as a conference sponsor, please complete and return the enclosed form to Ilene Grossman at the Midwestern Legislative Conference at your earliest convenience.
