Headteacher’s Welcome

Kantor King Solomon High School is considered an ideal model for society by those of us who work within it, and it is a perfect reflection of all the things that make London and the UK great. As a Jewish faith school, we remain staunchly committed to the Jewish values of learning, community and charity, and as a school in East London we welcome those of all faiths and those of none. As Headteacher, it is my privilege to work in a school that focuses on the things that unite us rather than those that divide us. This focus is manifested in an inclusive and caring environment where students know their voice is important but understand that their voice must be not only tolerant of others but also interested. We are made up of families from all faiths; though predominantly from East London and Essex Jewish and Muslim families, we also consist of students from every other faith and those of no faith at all. We speak over 50 languages and represent over 30 nations whilst all calling London our home. Multiculturalism can be confused with a lack of identity, but we do not suffer from this.

Haderech – Our Student Voice The Student voice is very important to us. Within lessons, our Student Observers learn how to observe lessons and give helpful and constructive feedback to teachers. Our student council liaises between the students and the Senior Leadership Team and Staff to listen to suggestions and deal with any concerns. Together we work as a team on solutions to any problems, to improve school life for everyone.

Personalised Learning

At KKSHS we recognise and appreciate that every student is different. One size does not fit all, and personalised learning is the key to ensuring that each student achieves their individual potential through utilising their particular strengths. KKSHS provides a personalised learning experience in a variety of ways, using small group teaching and differentiated teaching methods to work on individual education plans for students as they progress through the School. We also have a Nurture Group to provide support in the Lower School and mentoring and counselling is provided throughout the School.

Preparation for Life

School is a very important preparation for the future independence of our students, and with that in mind we promote the development of lifeskills via the curriculum and in PSHCE seminars.We frequently host assemblies by the Police, motivational speakers and religious leaders and encourage all our students to build their confidence and presentation skills with student-led teaching and group work.

At KKSHS we also believe in preparing our students for the future by offering lessons in nutrition and healthy eating.

Extra Curricular Education within KKSHS does not end with School life, andextra-curricular opportunities are very important to us, including social activities and clubs as well as trips to Israel, Poland, Belgium andWales to broaden horizons and increase confidence. Our students also take an active part in the local community and are happy to work on our Tzedekah (charity) committees.They regularly volunteer to assist those who need help or are less fortunate, in keeping with our School Motto - “If I amonly for myself,who am I?”.

At KKSHS we are constantly preparing our students for their future successes and life beyond the School.

We have links with the top universities and offer full UCAS support when the time comes for students to apply. We also support and inform with careers seminars and independent careers advisors to help each individual choose the right path.

Sixth Form We support our students’ individuality whether their strengths lie in academic studies or in practical and creative subjects. Our Sixth Form offers traditional A-level subjects ranging from Art to the Sciences but we also offer students the chance to pursue their talents in creative subjects such a Digital Photography, Music and Drama and we offer a range of Technical Levels including Health & Social Care, Computing and Business and also Diplomas in Physical Education.

At the heart of the School we promote the Jewish ethos that embraces all.
