From the President

by Scott Howry, President, Board of Governors

June is here! School is out and there is a lot of things happening around the Club…

Men’s & Ladies’ Club Championship is this Saturday, June 4th and Kid’s Summer Camp starts Tuesday, June 7th. Our U.S Open pairing party is the evening of June 17th, with the tourney on June 18th (details and sign-ups are in the pro shop). On June 19th, grab a tee time with your dad for our Father’s Day tournament and then treat him to our Father Day dinner buffet from 4pm to 7pm. Taco Tuesday, Pasta Night (Wednesdays), Friday Night Live, and Basque Night (Sundays) will all be as regularly scheduled in June, except there will be no Basque Night on Father’s Day. And finally, the Club’s 4th of July celebration and fireworks show will be here before you know it, so make your reservations! I am pleased to provide an update on the replacement of the 30 year-old Oaks 9 bunkers. The current plan is to complete the Oaks bunker project in January and February of 2023, rather than starting the project late this summer. The company that provided the best bid was the same company that did the work on the west nine, and they cannot perform the work until that time period. It will be a two-month project. The good news is that we will have all 27 holes open the remainder of this year, except for a month of over seeding in the fall. Even during over seeding, we plan on having 18 holes open at all times and we also plan to have 18 holes open during January and February during the bunker renovations. Any disruptions to play should be minimal this next year. By March 2023, all 27 holes will be completed and ready to go!

I look forward to seeing you around the Club.

Seven Oaks Book Club The Seven Oaks Book Club meets each month to discuss books on a reading list which is selected by mutual consent of the Book Club members. All members of SOCC are invited to attend. Our selection for June is a carry-over from May… Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters

Amelia Peabody, that indomitable product of the Victorian age, ebarks on her debut Egyptian adventure armed with unshakable self-confidence, a journal to record her thoughts, and, of course, a sturdy umbrella.

On her way to Cairo, Amelia rescues young Evelyn Barton- Forbes, who has been abandoned by her scoundrel lover. Together the two women sail up the Nile to an archeological site run by the Emerson brothers - the irascible but dashing Radcliffe and the amiable Walter. Soon their little party is in- creased by one - one mummy that is, and a singularly lively example of the species.

Strange visitations, suspicious accidents, and a botched kidnapping convince Amelia that there is a plot afoot to harm Evelyn. Now Amelia finds herself up against an unknown enemy - and perilous forces that threaten to make her first Egyptian trip also her last . . . Our next meeting is Thursday, June 23 rd at 4pm Please email Bee Barmann at [email protected] to receive information on joining the meeting.

Manager's Message by Enrique Contreras, CCM, GM/COO

We have a lot of exciting things happening at the Club, as we gear up for summer! The Board Room renovation is complete and looks amazing - it's perfect for small meetings. Chef Jorge is working on new menus for lunch and dinner for the Oak Room. Summer camp will begin next week and will be packed with fun filled activities and field trips to keep your kiddos engaged and entertained all sum- mer long – we still have openings if you haven’t signed up. We are looking forward to a great summer at the Club and we are looking forward to seeing all of you!

Dear Members,

Summer is here! Father’s Day is right around the corner and we are preparing for the traditional celebration for Dad’s with a Dinner Buffet to be held on June 19th from 4 pm to 7 pm - please don’t forget to make your reservations! Thank you to all the members that continually support our Friday Night Live – it still proves to be a very successful event (and we have the birds under control)! Taco Tuesday at the Mixed Grille is quickly becoming a member favorite; come see what it is all about!

If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions please call me or email me. See you at the Club!

With schools out on summer break, it is that time of year to voice the following friendly reminders:

• We are seeing more and more people on the West Nine that are not members of the Club. If you see anyone fishing, walking or other suspicious activity on the West Nine, please call the Golf Shop or the Reception Desk to report it. • For the safety of your children, please do not allow them to run on the main putting green or climb on the rocks by the Oak Room patio. • No one is allowed to bring any outside food or alcoholic beverages to the pools. Again, if you witness this, please report to it to your pool server or the main clubhouse. • As the temperatures rise, we need to remind our guests, teens and our members that our dress code is still in effect - whenever you are at the club house, please wear a collared shirt; any jeans with rips or holes and cut off’s are not allowed. Shorts and skirts, need to be of modest length.
