I just returned from Nashville. I went for the weekend and we stayed at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. When I walked into the building, my mind quickly raced back to one year ago. I was at the Gaylord for a convention. The entire place was jammed with people. There was a live band and peoplewere packed in like sardines trying to race into the convention room to get a seat up front for the keynote speaker. At the breaks, there was no place to sit and eat. What a difference a year makes. We were in Nashville because Brinkley had her first Dance Competition of the year. It is her first dance competition in a year. Just saying that is really strange. It was her first competition in a year!! I was so excited to be able to watch her perform. She was ecstatic to be on the stage again. And it totally showed in her performance. The Convention center, even though there was a dance convention, was a ghost town. The floor where the bandwas just a year earlier was empty. Hallelujah!!!

The doors that looked like the front row of a Kiss concert had no one standing to get in. Therewere security guards everywhere, taking temps and enforcingmasks. Roomswere limited to dancers only and limited in the numbers of dancers aswell. But...I got the chance to go watch her on stage. I can’t wait to be able to do that again. Foster has started Baseball practice again. Practice isweird cause I don’t even get towatch. We are required to drop off and pick up only. I hope he is doing good. He is probably doing better since I can’t watch. Stone is starting lacrosse practice again. This is his senior year of lacrosse. He only got to play 3 games last year. We are mostly planning for College. What is up with the kids growing up so fast? I only have one season left towatchmy boy play lacrosse. He was just in the 4th grade, not even able to throw a ball. I hope that you can find some kind of normal in your life that brings you joy like I had this past weekend. At least 2021 is shaping up to have some sort of normal… Even if they were dancing with masks on. Jeremy

Previously, Pittman had helped me recover from a foot surgery, so of course I went straight to them to help me with my knee recovery. I tried not to have surgery, but if I wanted to play Basketball my sophomore season, Dr. Biggers and my PT said I would have to have surgery. I was told that I would have a 6 month recovery, but with the help of my physical therapists and the hard work I put in, I fully recovered in 4 1/2 months. I worked with Mallory, Jeff, Tessa, Maranda, and a few other people in the practice. I will forever be thankful for the hard work they put into helping me play the sport I love most." 1. Aim for lucky number seven. Young and middle-age adults who sleep 7 hours a night have less calcium in their arteries (an early sign of heart disease) than those who sleep 5 hours or less or those who sleep 9 hours or more. 2. Keep the pressure off. Get your blood pressure checked every 3-5 years if you’re 18-39. If you’re 40 or older, or if you have high blood pressure, check it every year. 3. Move more. To keep it simple, you can aim for 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week of moderate exercise. Even if you exercise for 30 minutes a day, being sedentary for the other 23 1/2 hours is really bad for your heart. 4. Slash saturated fats. To help your heart’s arteries, cut down on saturated fats, which are mainly found in meat and full-fat dairy products. Choose leaner cuts and reduced-fat options. 5. Find out if you have diabetes. Millions of people don’t know that they have this condition. That’s risky

because over time, high blood sugar damages arteries and makes heart disease more likely. 6. Think beyond the scale. Ask your doctor if your weight is OK. If you have some pounds to lose, you’ll probably want to change your eating habits and be more active. 7. Ditch the cigarettes, real and electronic. Smoking and secondhand smoke are bad for your heart. If you smoke, quit, and don’t spend time around others who smoke as well. E-cigarettes are popular, but they’re not completely problem-free. They don’t contain the harmful chemicals in cigarette smoke but, they still do contain nicotine, so your goal should be to quit completely, not just switch to a less toxic version. 8. Clean up. Your heart works best when it runs on clean fuel. That means lots of whole, plant-based foods (like fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds) and fewer refined or processed foods (like white bread, pasta, crackers, and cookies).
