Website 2019 - Community Scholars

Cathedral believes that all students benefit from an education within a diverse community. We strive to attract high-achieving, low-income boys of color to Cathedral School by significantly reducing the barriers that might ordinarily keep them from attending independent schools.

The Community Scholars Program is designed to attract boys of high-academic potential to our fifth or sixth grade by providing them a full tuition award.

This program represents just one way in which Cathedral School aims to engage talented boys from a diverse group of communities within our reachable geographical area.

The Community Scholars Program Includes: • Tuition support for a student during his middle school years • Funding for associated school expenses like school uniforms • Technology support such as Wi-Fi access at home • Transportation support to and from school • Summer programming • A faculty mentor Eligible Applicants: • Currently enrolled in fourth or fifth grade • Consistently perform well-above grade level in all subjects • Receive strong teacher recommendations from two current teachers • Perform well during a campus visit and interview • Demonstrate good character and the capacity for leadership • Show a desire to participate in extracurricular activities • Demonstrate financial need

Cathedral School welcomes nominations. Interested candidates and those seeking to nominate a student may contact Tara Boland, Cathedral School’s Director of Admission, by email at [email protected], or by phone at 415.771.6600.
