WELCOME! Since spring 2019, the Anderson Classroom to Career (C2C) Center has made possible for the School of Business and Economics to have its internship presentations in an expo format, where students who had internships talk to other students and faculty about their experiences, in a very engaging and interactive atmosphere.

Students who visit the expo also have the chance to network with employers in the area and hopefully establish connections for future internship or even full-time job opportunities. We are excited to see everyone at our in-person event on Thursday, May 5! Students will have the chance to connect with interns and employers, learn about specific internships and receive Pro Events credit. Here is a preview about our spring 2022 students and their internships. I hope you enjoy the School of Business and Economics Internship Expo!

MAJOR Accounting HOMETOWN Abbotsford, Wis. ORGANIZATION Schult CPAs Marathon City, Wis. TITLE Tax Intern

What I did: I prepared W-2s and 1099s for our clients before tax season started, then during tax season I prepared 230 total tax returns which included 1040, 1120 and 1120S, and 1065. I also helped prepare 2553s and sales tax reports. What I liked: I enjoyed preparing individual tax returns the most and gaining experience in preparing corporate, S-Corp, and partnership tax returns. Future Dream Job: Opening my own CPA firm eventually to serve more clients, because around central Wisconsin there are more people looking for CPAs than there are CPAs available. I hope to serve businesses that are just starting out and need extra help and a more affordable rate.

GARRETT CARLSON ’22

MAJOR Business Administration HOMETOWN Houghton, Mich. ORGANIZATION Northwestern Mutual Stevens Point, Wis. TITLE Financial Representative

What I did: I worked as a financial representative who worked with clients to help them financially. Before I started, I attained both my life and health insurance licenses. I then went through a weeklong training with area interns. We then met with potential clients to see if there were opportunities for us to assist them in reaching their goals. All the meetings were accompanied by a senior financial advisor. I learned the process of how you work with clients in many capacities whether it was insurance, investment, or retirement planning. I’ve attained so much knowledge on financial advising and supporting individuals and couples in all walks of life and situations. What I liked: I really appreciated all the support that Northwestern has provided to me. Not only through the learning process, but also the mentorship from the senior advisors.
