EQUIPMENT CHECK

MAINTENANCE

COVID - READY

To prolong the life of the equipment and for infection control, regular Equipment Checks and Cleaning are necessary. Regularly scheduled and spot cleaning daily along with thorough cleaning at the beginning and the end of programming or every 6 months is recommended at minimum. Water Bubble Tubes require regular maintenance. It should be emptied if not in use longer than 8 days.

Follow directives and guidelines provided by your employer and Province. Many Sensory Rooms are public use areas, cleaning between users will be required. Surfaces frequently touched with hands are most likely to be contaminated. Use only approved hard-surface disinfectants that have a Drug Identification Number (DIN). A DIN is an 8-digit number given by Health Canada that confirms the disinfectant product is approved and safe for use in Canada. Allow enough contact time for disinfectant to kill germs based on the product being used. For Further Guidelines Visit: Canada.ca/coronavirus or contact 1-833-784-4397

Access your Sensory Room a few weeks before students/clients to familiarize yourself with the products.

Safety Check List: 1.

Electrical cord placement & soundness. Run each piece of equipment for 20 minutes. Test all controls, functions and applications of the equipment. Inspect furniture covers, zippers, & seams. Inspect all bolts/nuts or chain/rope connections for wear or failure.

2.

3.

4.

5.

Chewed Fibre Optic Tails should be clipped off.

If you find any equipment is not working as expected, contact us as soon as possible for advice.

All other equipment must be inspected on a regular basis for wear and damage.
