This month is the time to honor and show appreciation for the hard work physical therapist’s do, and the important role they play in rehabilitating patients from their pain. You might be wondering how you can spread the word about the importance of physical therapy. It’s easy! Most of us are on social media to some extent these days, and using hashtags such as #UsePhysicalTherapy and #ChoosePT has helped garner curiosity and interest in the physical therapy world.

This month also allows patients to share their stories about how PT has improved their quality of life. It also gives physical therapists a way to bring awareness to people about the different kinds of treatment available to patients. Lauren was inspired to become a physical therapist after rehabilitating her own injuries allowed her to feel safer and more empowered in her body than she ever had. She obtained a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from UCSF/ San Francisco State University. She also received a 500-hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, India. Before becoming a Physical Therapist, Lauren was a teacher. Lauren believes that knowledge is power when it comes to learning about injuries and how your body heals. She strives to combine the peace and focus of yoga, the empowerment of learning, and compassionate, excellent medical care. Combine oil, garlic and crushed red pepper in a small skillet over low heat. Cook, stirring often, about 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from heat; let cool for 5 minutes. Stir in panko, Parmesan, thyme, lemon zest and salt. Preheat grill to at least 500°F. Oil the grill grates, using tongs to hold an oil-soaked paper towel. Place zucchini, cut-sides down, on the oiled grates; grill, uncovered, until tender-crisp, about 5 minutes per side. Flip the zucchini so they are cut-side up; spoon the panko mixture evenly on top.
