John recently returned to SAIC as the senior vice president for government affairs. He worked for the company once before as a consultant from 2007 to 2012 and then again as vice president for government affairs from 2015 to 2018. Prior to his current role, he served as the majority staff director for the Senate Armed Services Committee. In this position, he managed the confirmation oversight responsibilities of the committee, which primarily focused on the Department of Defense and other related security functions of the government. He also worked extensively on the passage of the annual National Defense Authorization Act. John served as the deputy chief of staff for Senator James Inhofe in 2015, and
Cedrick “Code Red” Jessup was born in Winston-Salem, NC. He attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in marketing. He also holds a Master of Arts from Webster University in human resource management and a Master of Science from the Eisenhower School at the National Defense University in national security and resource strategy with a concentration in weapons of mass destruction. On 24 Oct 1997, Captain Jessup was commissioned as an Officer in the U.S. Navy and began Pilot Flight Training. He assumed duties as Deputy Commodore, Strategic Communications Wing ONE, and Task Group 114.2 in August 2019 and assumed his current responsibilities as the Commodore/ Commander of SCW-1/TG-114.2 in February 2021. Captain Jessup’s decorations include various personal awards including the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, two Navy Achievement Medals, and the Iraqi Campaign Medal with one star and holds his Airline Transport Pilot FAA qualification.
