LETTER FROM THE GM

In everything we do, we maintain a focus on the Member Experience. We want you to feel comfortable and right at home In the Club by providing personalized service, a well-rounded calendar of events and unique dining opportunities. Your Summer Adventures Begin Here! Throughout the summer, we will continue to offer a blend of members' favorite traditions with innovative twists to keep you entertained, informed, and engaged. We have many opportunities for Members to enjoy the Club, including our BBQ Bash, Game Nights, Pasta with Purpose, Afternoon Tea, Football Tailgate Parties, Breakfast with UNC Coaches, and Holiday Celebrations. There is something for everyone!

We will also continue our monthly dining traditions that you have come to know and love – Steak & Lobster on Fridays, Sunday Brunch, Prime Rib Night, Kids Eat Free on Wednesday evenings, and Business Builders Happy Hour. For the beverage enthusiast – each month we feature tastings of premium wine, beer, and spirits. We are always looking for new trends and a modern spin on traditional favorites, so be on the lookout for more as the summer unfolds. We also offer opportunities to enjoy additional beverage perks when you join our Wine Society or Brew Crew. Give us a call to learn more about these groups. Beyond our calendar of events, I encourage you to get involved by joining one of our “Clubs within the Club.” These groups are perfect for meeting and connecting with fellow Members that share your interests such as Book Club, Business Builders, Carolina Women, Bridge Club, and Arts & Culture Enthusiasts (ACES). As you will see in this newsletter, our calendar is packed with events for the entire family to enjoy, but don’t forget you can create your own celebrations at the Club for your business or social entertaining by contacting Private Events Director, JJ Oppegard, who will be delighted to provide you several options to host your event. Bridge Club– The Bridge Club meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month to enjoy each other ’ s company and compete in a friendly game of progressive bridge . The winner each week receives a complimentary Chef ’ s Table for two .

Business Builders– Business Builders meet on Thursday mornings to network with other Carolina Club business professionals , share ideas and learn from the best in various fields . Business Builders also hosts Lunch & Learns , Speaker Series , and monthly Happy Hour .

Wine Society– Wine Society members enjoy tastings , dinners , and cooking demonstrations that showcase various selections of wines , foods , and spirits . Annual Fee Required .

Brew Crew– Brew Crew members receive exclusive benefits when dining at the Club ; 20 oz draft beer for the price of 16 oz , a percentage off all Club sponsored beer dinners , $ 3 draft beers every Wednesday , and complimentary quarterly beer tastings . Annual Fee Required .

The Aperol Spritz marries Aperol, an Italian aperitivo that dates back to 1919, with sparkling prosecco and club soda, creating a bold and bubbly drink that’s the color of summer sunsets. The Club will be featuring this festive cocktail during the month of July, so stop by and get a sip of summer in a glass. What better way to celebrate the start of summer than with a refreshing cocktail that’s bursting with color and flavor?

Aperol Spritz

Ingredients Ice

3 oz. Aperol

3 oz. prosecco

1 oz. club soda or plain sparkling water

Orange slice, for garnish

Directions Fill wine glass with ice. Pour Aperol over ice, then top with prosecco. Add club soda and garnish with orange slice. Serve immediately.

In July and August, we’ll also be introducing two additional signature summer cocktails in the Club.

Member Spotlight Omar Bell and Shannon Smith

Omar Bell and Shannon Smith, share three children: Olivia (8), Aidan (11), and Isabel (18). Shannon was born in Fayetteville and graduated from UNC in 2014. She is now the Director of Major Gifts for the School of Architecture at University of Virginia. After spending 5 years as Director of Development for Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, Omar a 1998 graduate of Lenoir Rhyne University, currently works as a consultant for Lindauer Global recruiting fundraisers to nonprofit jobs around the world. We are passionate about: Our Children, college basketball, education, helping others gain access to education through philanthropy
