A NOTE FROM GROUNDS Dear Members,

As Phase II begins today, we will be placing benches near the tees and rakes outside each bunker on both golf courses. In addition, we will put out benches on the clay courts, along with seating areas outside courts 1 and 5 in racquets. We will also will supply additional divot bottles on both courses to fill all divots with the mix provided. Although these course amenities are in accordance with Phase II regulations, our staff numbers remain low due to the pandemic affect across the Club, we will continue to ride-mow our greens and tees, and not rake bunkers on an everyday basis. The Practice Tee schedule will remain in effect for the foreseeable future; mats only Monday through Thursday, and on grass, Friday through Sunday. Please utilize the straight-line divot method, as seen below on the left, versus taking in patches or a square, seen below right.

Some great golf to report this week: Jimmy Grant with his first ever Hole-in-One on Saturday! Mr. Grant using a 6-iron on the 7th hole of the North for his inaugural ace… Speaking of firsts, Cooper McDonald with his first birdie ever! Cooper knocked it on the green, also on Hole 7 North, and drained a 15-footer for the memorable two. -Michael Shank, PGA TEE TIMES END JUNE 15TH

We are conducting “Maintenance Monday” on the North Course this morning. The South Course is open for play. We are in the process of managing the sod layer on the North greens collars, verti-cutting tees and approaches, and lastly, topdressing the fairways.

Beginning today we are no longer utilizing tee times. The golf courses have returned to regular play with no tee times. Players must check in with the starter before proceeding to the first tee. It continues to be important to maintain physical distancing from all other members and staff in the cart staging area, practice facilities, and near the first tee. Kindly be aware of your surroundings. FAMILY GUESTS NOW PERMITTED Beginning today, family guests are permitted to play golf. Note that all guest rules and limitations continue to apply. Please call the Golf Shop, 302-655-6022, to register any guest play in advance.

Please remember to scatter all carts and vary pattern wear from other golf cars, maintaining a distance of 10 yards to greens and tees. We ask for your continued support of fixing one ball mark, plus another throughout your golf round. Have a great week!

Regards, Jon Urbanski Director of Golf Courses & Grounds

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

HIIT THE BEACH WORKOUT

HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training. HIIT workouts combine short bursts of intense exercise with periods of rest or low intensity exercise. Intervals have been shown to boost cardiorespiratory health in a shorter time frame. Here is a sample workout you can do by yourself or with your friends, either on the beach, or at home: MINUTE 1 : Warmup- High knees for 20 seconds, butt kicks for 20 seconds, and open the gate for 20 seconds MINUTE 2 : Dynamic Warmup- Skip for 20 seconds, Hopscotch for 20 seconds, and Leapfrog for 20 seconds MINUTE 3 : CORE- 1-leg RDL 30 seconds, then other leg RDL 30 seconds MINUTE 4 : LOWER BODY- Squat 20 seconds, lateral squat 20 seconds, lateral squat to the other side for 20 seconds MINUTE 5 : UPPER BODY- pushup position shoulder taps (alternating) for 30 seconds, sideways pushup walks for 15 seconds to one side, then 15 seconds to the other side MINUTE 6 : Cool down- High Knees with Arm circles for 20 seconds, toe touches for 20 seconds, and deep breathing for 20 seconds Depending on your fitness level, you can repeat MINUTES 3, 4, and 5 one or two more times before completing MINUTES 6 and 7. These exercises can be done with bodyweight only. You can also increase the intensity by increasing the tempo of your movements, adding extra minutes for the area you are targeting (every other minute could be a lower body minute, for example). Get creative and have fun! ADULT AQUATICS
