Community Partner of Jewish Federation OF GREATER DALLAS
Dear Levine Community, We are strong, thriving and resilient on the other side of a global pandemic. We were able to pivot our focus inward and become leaders in the region as we navigated the extraordinary circumstances of the 2020-2021 school year. Levine moved forward confidently and prominently on the pathway of its school mission of academic excellence and character-enhancing Jewish learning and values. Throughout this extraordinary pandemic year, where restrictions and disruptions posed significant challenges, Levine weathered the storm and has surged forward to retain its prominence as the leading day school in the greater Dallas area. The four pillars of our strategic plan remained at the forefront of our program: Inclusivity, an outstanding Early Childhood experience, K-8 Academic Excellence in all facets of our program, and Financial Sustainability. As part of our continuous advancement, Levine Academy continued on its path toward accreditation and full membership into our six-state region’s most prominent academic association—the Independent School Association of the Southwest, ISAS. This multi-year process of bringing all aspects of our school program up to the highest standards will place our school alongside Greenhill, St. Mark’s, Hockaday, ESD, and Parish, plus the best private schools throughout the southwest. We are confident that we will conclude this process by the summer of 2022 and receive the required accreditation. We listened to our families and followed our Board’s Strategic objectives: STEM and global education are now prominent throughout the K-8 curriculum; Spanish has become a popular Middle School elective; reading and writing are showing substantial progress in all measures; math and science are experiencing enormous attention and support. Our foundational Jewish values and traditions remain as vibrant as ever throughout the school. We are proud to acknowledge that even during this difficult year, our 8th grade students are moving on to some of the top high schools in the city, making this the best year yet for our graduating class. We worked hard to prepare our students academically and they were rewarded - validating our programing and academic excellence. We could not have made it through this difficult year without YOUR support. Our donors allowed us to protect the health and safety of our community, while we continued to operate the school every day this year to ensure we delivered academic excellence. We rely on you - your commitment to investing in our students, keeping our school on its continuum of excellence, and boosting our importance in the community and we thank you. The road ahead will have unique challenges. Our commitment to all of you is steadfast, because you are our community and the stakeholders in our School Mission. With your ongoing support in our annual fundraising efforts, we will continue to offer a premier educational experience that is a beacon for our community. With sincerest gratitude, A LETTER TO THE COMMUNITY from the Head of School and the President of the Board of Trustees

This year the PA added to its long list of programs the Amazon Wishlist for the teachers. Parents and grandparents sent snacks and drinks to stock the break room, an effort which was so very appreciated by our staff and faculty during this challenging year! ISRAEL SUMMER EXPERIENCE Levine Academy has had a long standing tradition to offer its 8th graders a trip to Israel. Thanks to generous donations from Ann & Nate Levine and the Gerda Vogel Marx Israel Experience Fund established by the Goetz family , we have always been able to subsidize the Israel trip for our 8th grade families.
When the Pandemic began last year, the 8th grade parents and students in the class of 2020 were devastated that their trip was canceled... and parents still wanted an option for their children to have an Israel experience.
Given the uncertainty of the pandemic and Israel going in and out of lockdown this year, we had the opportunity to partner with JNF Roots Israel Experience to offer a joint Israel trip in the summer of 2021 for the classes of 2020 and 2021!
B’NAI MITZVAH FUND 2020-2021
In 1998, Wende Weinberg, z”l, established a philanthropic fund at Solomon Schechter Academy with the purpose of teaching about charitable giving and decision-making. Students chose to forego Bar/Bat Mitzvah gifts between classmates in favor of a charitable donation to the fund, with the aim of helping us remember others as we celebrate our simchas. Parents and friends made donations to the fund over the course of their middle school years. At the end of the eighth grade year, they made decisions as to how to disburse the money. This year, the 8th grade class has decided to donate its 2021 B’nai Mitzvah funds, after sponsoring a garden for Levine’s science program, to the Friends of the IDF and the Sadie Keller Foundation. THE CLASS OF 2021 RAISED OVER $3,000.00 THROUGH THE MITZVAH FUND TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY.
“Levine’s B’nai Mitzvah Fund is a wonderful way for the students to learn about Tzedakah and giving back to the community. The 2021 graduates donated a portion of the fund to the Sadie Keller Foundation, a local foundation started by Sadie Keller, an 8th grader herself who is a Leukemia survivor! Her story was very inspiring to our children. The students also donated a portion of the fund to the FIDF. Levine has provided the students with a strong connection to our Jewish State and they recognize how important it is to support Israel, and the IDF. We feel that the fund was successful in achieving its purpose, even through this challenging year.” -MARA COHEN & PAM GOLDMINZ, MITZVAH FUND 2021 CHAIRS

KEEP VALUES GROWING
T he traditional Jewish belief is that we have an obligation to leave this world better than we found it. It is really not a choice, but rather a requirement, to make our entire community a better place for everyone. Planned Giving is people — people from all walks of life and all income levels. People like you, who want to make a difference in the world and who want to leave a legacy; who want to make the world a better place. Planned gifts to Ann & Nate Levine Academy enable you to make a lasting contribution to the school you love – a contribution that will have a significant impact even beyond your lifetime.
"It is our wish to play a small but important role in making sure that Levine remains a strong, vibrant and integral part of Dallas. Making a Legacy gift to Levine was one of the most important decisions we've made as a part of our estate planning." -LISA & RANDY FLEISHER, ALUMNI PARENTS AND MEMBERS OF THE LEVINE LEGACY SOCIETY

Summer@Levine provided a summer of fun, learning, and choice to children ages 6-12 throughout our community to engage critical thinking skills, enhance sports abilities and launch children’s creative mindset. Our focus on sports, creative arts, and STEM enabled each child to choose from a wide range of activities each day and continued throughout the summer. Options included art, sports, magic, cooking, robotics & more! We were so grateful to open our camp again this year in a safe and protected environment, to help campers create knowledge and experiences to last a lifetime!
Camp Shemesh emphasized individual growth by providing each child the opportunity to contribute and grow within a group setting. Our amazing camp director, Dana Shidlofsky, personally designed weekly camps for children ages three months to rising Kindergartners. We fostered positive feelings and Jewish ideals in a warm and nurturing environment with caring and experienced staff. Campers developed skills through arts and crafts, physical fitness, science, drama, music, cooking and sports. Each week campers explored new activities and developed new abilities while planting seeds of lasting friendship. SHEME SH Camp
When Levine Academy reopened for our summer programs in June 2020 and for the start of school in August of 2020, it faced unexpected expenses due to COVID-19 precautions. Investing in desk shields, masks, additional cleaning supplies, sanitizer stations, thermometers, outdoor classrooms, teacher training, and much more were necessary to keep the students and faculty safe at school, but chipped away at our already tight, non-profit budget. We launched our COVID Emergency Preparedness Campaign and we were blown away by the response. Our community generously donated over $295,000 to upgrade our technology, provide support to our teachers, and ensure building sanitation and cleaning was the best it could be this year. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
