A NEW ADDITION TO THE CHIRO1SOURCE FAMILY JOSH AND MARAH ARE HAVING A BABY!

2020 SEPTEMBER

I would say I have a surprise to share with you all, but the title pretty much gives it away: My wife Marah and I are expecting! We’re thrilled to be bringing a new member into the Chiro1Source family, and I couldn’t be more excited about becoming a dad. The two of us have always had an “it happens when it happens” approach to family planning, so finding out about the pregnancy in April was a happy surprise.

Once we found out the sex of the baby, we kept the family in suspense for just a bit longer so we could organize a reveal on Facebook Live. Marah's sister Kellie helped us plan the celebration. She bought a streamer launcher and a sign for us to use to make the announcement, and the whole thing ended up being really special. We also decided to get two of our other “kids” — our dogs Hershey and Rock — involved in the fun. We tied “Big Brother” bandannas around their necks and snapped a few pictures (treats helped us bribe them to focus, as you could probably guess). Between the photos and the live stream, we filled everyone in on the news: We’re having a boy! Our little baby may not be the tradition-disruptor like my family guessed, but we all can’t wait to meet him. Marah’s due date is Dec. 1, and we’re already working on getting a little nursery set up in our home. It’ll be a great project for us this fall. In such a crazy time, this baby boy is a real blessing. I hope all of you have something exciting to look forward to in your lives right now, too. We can’t wait to introduce you to Baby Walker this winter, so keep your eye out for baby pictures to come!

We told our family we were expecting back in the spring, but I wanted to wait until we found out the sex of the baby before making a big announcement in the newsletter. Despite all odds, before we went in for the official check, everyone in the family was convinced that we were having a girl. I say against all odds because we Walkers have a long-standing family tradition of pretty much only fathering boys. In the last 70 years, there have only been four girls born in my family, but my family was convinced Marah and I would be outliers.

Almost 20 years ago, when Cecil Walker first founded Chiro1Source, he partnered

When Josh and Marah’s baby grows up, they plan to take him on all kinds of great vacations! To prepare for the future — and make sure everyone’s voices are heard on Labor Day — Josh asked the team to share memories of their favorite childhood trips. Here’s what they said! One year I went on a 10-day camping trip in the Great Smokies with a family in our neighborhood. I was 12. We camped in tents, ate food by the fire, and enjoyed nature! I remember that the food tasted especially good outside. We did so many things: went into caverns; hiked; swam in cold, cold water; and slid down river rocks. I will never forget the sight of a huge male deer or elk (not sure which) atop a mountain. –Karen

My most memorable vacation was one we took to Florida. Larry, a friend of mine, and I swam to the end of the pier with our life preservers on. However, the lifeguard had to rescue us, and our moms “tore up our butts,” as we used to say. We saw a bunch of neat things around St. Augustine, but I do remember that sitting down for the next couple days was a bit uncomfortable. –Cecil My favorite childhood vacation was spending time at my grandparents’ cabin in West Virginia. It rested in a remote area on the Greenbrier River. They had electricity and running water, but no TV or telephone. We spent lots of time outside swimming, canoeing, and tubing in the river. That's also where we took our baths. We went on many hikes and discovered lots of berries and also a few rattlesnakes! In the morning, my grandmother would put cantaloupe seeds on the stone wall and we would watch chipmunks eating them while we ate breakfast. At night, of course, there were lots of card games and jigsaw puzzles. –Julie
