Congratulations to the 2021 ANCC Stroke Play Champions Shelley Savage and Tripp Baird. Shelley shot a two-day total of 151 (79 – 72) to win her seventh Women’s Stroke Play title. This year’s Junior Tour Parent-Child Scramble will be held at the Fairfax course on Saturday, 31 July. All ANCC Juniors between the ages of 5 – High School as certified under the guidelines set forth in the “Junior Tour” Junior Golf Program, and ANCC Golf Rules are eligible to play. This is a two-player scramble of teams made-up of one parent and one child. Parents may play as a team with more than one junior. All parents must have a valid USGA handicap index. ANCC JUNIOR TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP

This year’s Junior Tour Championship will be held at the Arlington & Fairfax courses on Wednesday and Thursday, 25 & 26 August. All ANCC Juniors between the ages of 5 – High School as certified under the guidelines set forth in the “Junior Tour” Junior Golf Program, and ANCC Golf Rules are eligible to play. TAI CHI - POP UP CLASS! Friday, 16 July 10:00 AM Tai Chi promotes relaxation, straight posture, strong legs, and balance. It improves sleep quality, cognitive function, and cardiovascular fitness, and is excellent for fall prevention. In this class, we will learn (at least) the first five postures and movements. More importantly, we’ll focus on embodying the tai chi principles that are the “active ingredients” in tai chi’s great health-giving power and benefits. This class will be offered in person and over Zoom.

Most group exercise classes are offered both in person and on Zoom. You have the option to subscribe one month at a time or ongoing, or to register for single classes. Monthly subscription rates are $35 for Standard Classes and $50 for Specialty Classes. You may participate in individual Standard Classes for $15/class or individual Specialty Classes for $20/class. FOREVER FIT (HYBRID) Wednesdays at 11:00 AM This is a class for the young at heart who want to work on balance, flexibility, and light strengthening. Options will be offered for varying ability levels. It will be helpful to have a chair and a couple of light weights. muscle groups with options for dumbells (or other weights), tubing, and sometimes body weight. TONING & ABS (HYBRID) Tuesdays & Thursdays at 5:30 PM and Saturdays at 10:00 AM A full-body workout! We’ll work all major STANDARD CLASSES FITNESS FUSION (IN PERSON) Tuesdays & Thursdays at 8:30 AM A combination of Step aerobics, full-body toning, and Pilates, all in one class! Please note that this class is offered in-studio only and is not available on Zoom. POWER YOGA (HYBRID) Wednesdays at 6:00 PM This class is a physically challenging class that is suitable for all levels. In this class you will gain strength, balance, grace, flexibility, and endurance. Get ready to sweat!

SPECIALTY CLASSES PILATES (HYBRID) Mondays at 8:30 AM & 5:30 PM

Enjoy an age-defying full body workout. Gain core strength, flexibility, and better balance while improving your posture and enhancing athletic performance!

GENTLE YOGA (HYBRID)

Tuesdays at 11:00 AM

We’ll warm-up, go through a series of familiar asanas, then cool down & stretch. This class will be accessible to beginners. No equipment required, but you’ll be able to use your mat, blocks, and strap if you have them.

YOGA FUSION (HYBRID) Fridays at 8:30 AM

We begin with a warm-up, then about 15 min. of vinyasa flow to build heat. Next is a 15 min. segment of strength training with yoga poses followed by stretching, cooldown and relaxation.

ZUMBA (IN PERSON) Saturdays at 8:30 AM

Zumba combines Latin and international music with dance moves, incorporating interval training fast and slow rhythms to help improve cardiovascular fitness!

LADIES’ TUESDAY EVENING INTRACLUB TENNIS LEAGUE 6:30-8:00 PM For ladies unable to play during the day, we offer an evening league through the outdoor season. MEN’S SATURDAY MORNING INTRACLUB TENNIS LEAGUE 7:00-9:00 AM OR 9:00-11:00 AM This league will continue through the outdoor season with 2 Saturday morning sessions. GENERAL REMINDERS

Our guest policy of two guests/per day/per member family applies to both ARL and FFX. We will continue to evaluate our numbers at both clubs and make changes, as warranted. For now, please email [email protected] if you would like considerations to bring additional guests to our pools beyond two. Towel service at both ARL and FFX is being provided this season. The staff will provide one towel at check-in for those members and guests wanting a towel. Please be mindful that on busy days, we may run out of towels so having a spare with you is appreciated.

ARLINGTON POOLS

ANCC Arlington festivities will begin at 11:00 AM with fun for all at the pools. Come prepared for the ever-popular underwater coin search, pigeon, t-shirt relay and family relays! There will also be games for the younger swimmers in the training and wading pools. Activities will conclude around 2:00 PM. Please note : Arlington pools will remain open until 8:00 PM.

FAIRFAX POOLS

ANCC FFX festivities will begin at 4:30 PM with fun games for all ages. All pool activities will conclude before the Fairfax Buffet starts at 6:30PM. Please note : The Fairfax Pools will remain open until 7:00 PM. At both ARL and FFX, we encourage all members to bring a towel on the 4th of July. We will have towel service but may run short throughout the day. 4 TH TOWEL SERVICE Our guest policy remains in effect for the 4 th with members permitted to bring two guests/per member family/for the day. 4 TH GUEST POLICY

TUESDAY, 14 SEPTEMBER SEPTEMBER COLLEGE ADMISSIONS: A ROAD MAP FOR ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS This seminar will offer insight into what col- leges are looking for and advice for adjusting to the post COVID-19 admissions landscape. It will also give students and their families information on how to be well-prepared for the college admissions process. Topics include: Researching colleges Visiting campuses and college fairs virtually and in-person Developing a college list Standardized tests and test-optional schools

The session will also introduce the Common Application and tips on preparing strong applications and essays, as well as a brief overview of financial aid. Does your student require accommodations on the SAT/ACT or during college? We will also talk about the accommodations process and what things to look for in a school for students who require accommodations throughout the program. Emily Singer Lucio , Smart Start Educational Consulting - Emily has worked in higher education disability services for thirty years and has been working as an independent educational consultant for the last four years.
