I headed to law school devoid of any notion of which type of law to practice, other than that it had to include time spent giving emphatic, eloquent speeches in front of a judge. I’m obviously exaggerating here, but looking back, that’s how I see myself — utterly naive. I had no

idea how much writing would be involved in legal work, the hundreds of hours spent cranking out elaborate briefs or navigating labyrinths of paperwork. Despite going in with a mountain of misinformation, studying the law clicked with me almost immediately. I graduated and cut my teeth defending a large insurance company in Las Vegas. It was exciting and involved the in-courtroom experience I sought. My family and I moved down here to Phoenix in 2003, and I took a similar sort of job. However, with a growing family including three young kids to think about, the big firm life

Nowadays, I can say with certainty that it’s a good thing I didn’t become a doctor. My job may not be any less stressful, but I can say without a doubt that I take pride in the impact we have on our clients’ daily lives. It’s why I come into work every morning.

Do I Really Need a Divorce Attorney? SHORT ANSWER: YES

Nowadays, “do-it-yourself” is all the rage, and tutorials on everything from DIY home repair to DIY braces litter the internet. Some people, faced with a failing marriage, start to think that maybe they can have a DIY divorce — it’ll save a few bucks; how bad could it be? But, much like those DIY braces, your divorce is a process you should leave to the professionals.

The vast majority of do-it-yourself divorces end in disaster. There are many potential problems that you may not have considered. ingredients • 4 (6–6 ½ ounce) hamburger patties • ¼ cup whiskey • 3 garlic cloves, chopped • 4 strips bacon instructions

American cheese • 2 large Vidalia onions, peeled, cut in half, and thinly sliced • 2 tablespoons olive oil

This summer, skip the expensive hustle and bustle of an overcrowded theme park. After a vacation like that, you’ll feel like you need another. As far as getaway destinations go, a great place to visit is Yellowstone National Park in my home state of Wyoming. The park actually sprawls across Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming, and gives a little more room on your vacation . More than 3 million visitors flock to its astonishing peaks, multicolored pools, and dramatic geothermal geysers each year, but as you travel across Yellowstone’s 2.2 million acres, it’s unlikely you’ll see much of them. And the sheer variety of unparalleled activities to explore means fun for the whole family. Make sure to check out Old Faithful, the most famous geothermal geyser in the world, with eruptions averaging a whopping 130 vertical feet. Or if it’s majesty and exploration you’re itching for, hike one of the many trails along the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River. The views, with clay cliff faces and tree-covered mountains in

every direction, are unlike any other. Also, be sure to investigate the Grand Prismatic Spring, which, besides its otherworldly rainbow waters, is known for being the largest hot spring in the U.S. For many, though, the biggest draw of the park is the wildlife. Yellowstone is home to the largest bison population on public land. It houses more mammals than anywhere else in the lower 48 states, 150 species of birds, and huge populations of native fish, to name a few. Just driving around

the park, you’re apt to see moose, deer, elk, mountain goats, and, if you’re lucky, grizzly bears, mountain lions, or wolves. Go boating, catch a fish, scale a mountain, ride a horse — the things to do vary as much as the breathtaking landscape. If you’re looking for an affordable, relaxed, and wide-open family vacation this summer, escape the scorching Arizona summer heat and head to Yellowstone — it’s a no-brainer.
