ARMY NAVY COUNTRY CLUB OCTOBER 2021 E-NEWSLETTER

ANCC FOUNDATION DID YOU KNOW? Bunker-less Golf Course The original ANCC Arlington golf course was designed and constructed by Major Richard D. Newman. The first nine holes opened on September 1, 1928, and the second nine in the summer of 1929. One unique feature of this course was the total lack of bunkers. To learn Newman’s rationale for this configuration and when/if bunkers were ever added, click here. The “In Memoriam” section of the Army Navy Country Club website highlights the lives of Members and staff who have recently passed. If you would like to send a submission to honor the memory of a loved one, please contact our Marketing Coordinator by clicking here . You may send a biography, along with photos as well to be added to this section. To read about the lives of those who have recently passed, please click here. InMemoriam Duplicate Bridge Has Returned to Army Navy Country Club! The Duplicate Bridge Club has resumed in person play on Tuesday nights at 7:00 PM. Participants must have proof of vaccination to join the fun. New players at all levels are welcome. The game is sanctioned so that players can win ACBL points. For more information please contact Ednamae Trevey at 703.293.2904 or at [email protected].

She has a husband who knows his chardonnay but can’t identify a Phillips-head screwdriver, three quirky kids with their own agendas, a perpetually-shedding dog, and a minivan full of cold french fries. Will she survive the endless minutia of modern family life, or will she end up on the laundry room floor eating chocolate frosting out of a can?
