As a reminder, our new lounge will provide a gracious setting with luxurious furnishings and will feature a stone fireplace and vintage bar.The business center next door makes room for your professional life with work stations, Hot Desks, and boosted cell phone booths for private calls.Thank you for your patience and support as we continue our work through the slow summer months. Our new Library is also scheduled to open this summer in its new home on the 7th floor. Our Program and Food and Beverage Committees have packed so many great events into this spring and summer, I am finding it hard to fit them all into my calendar! I have been eagerly awaiting this year’s GrillWars 2 which heats up on June 20th and promises to be even more over the top than last year. Already confirmed are the Masters of the Grill, Executive Chefs fromYale, Harvard, and Penn along with our very own Chef Michael, winner of the Best Burger from last year’s event. If there was ever an event not to be missed, this is it! Look inside for other great events this season including: Growing like aWeed; a fascinating panel discussion on June 18 on the health and wealth of the Cannabis industry moderated by writer Mark Bernstein, ’83.Then we have Averting the Plasticpocalypse – the fight against plastic with John Hocevar, Director USA Oceans, Greenpeace on June 19. On June 24, a discussion with David Ebershoff, NewYorkTimes Best Selling author of The Danish Girl , turned into a movie starring Eddie Redmayne and AliciaVikandera. On June 25th, the Death March Escape , a story told by Jack Hersch whose father escaped the brutal Nazi death march at the end ofWorldWar II. Don’t miss our annual sailing trip aboard the schooner, Adirondack which sails at dusk from Pier 62 on June 22. And introducing a new summer Friday Night Dinner & Movie series, showing some classic favorites and interesting feature films packaged with dining discounts in the Bar & Grill. As if that wasn’t enough, our popular summer happy hour series,Wednesdays on theTerrace runs July 10 through August 28. You might have seen a new face around the Club. Please join me in welcoming Joseph Pastor, Director of Operations, (see sidebar). Joseph is doing a great job managing our construction project insuring we are meeting the Club’s needs for a timely calendar and successful opening. I look forward to sharing the grand opening with Joseph, Jason Pallen and the entire team in the fall. Bon voyage if you’re heading away for a summer break and if you haven’t made plans yet, check out our reciprocal club listings to find some interesting places to visit. If you’re city bound, thanks for your patience during this next phase of construction. We will try to keep construction inconveniences to a minimum. Cheers, PRESIDENT

INTELLECT SPECIAL EVENT Growing like aWeed – The Present and Future of the Cannabis Industry TUESDAY, JUNE 18, 6:00PM WINE RECEPTION, 6:30PM PANEL DISCUSSION Cannabis, Marijuana, Pot,Weed, Grass –Whatever you call it, it’s big business and its heading to a town near you. Is Cannabis a gateway drug or does it heal the damage caused by opioids in the brain? Whether you embrace it or fear it, this 12.4 billion dollar industry is booming and you won’t want to miss this panel presentation moderated by Mark F. Bernstein, Princeton ’83, Senior Writer for PAW and author of the recent article “Growing like aWeed”. Our panelists include Andrew Salini, Princeton University ’06, who left Wall Street and now works as Chief Operating Officer of Verde Natural, a cannabis cultivator with 25,000 sq. feet of growing fields, labs and cutting rooms in Denver Colorado. Hear from Andrew about the culture of Cannabis and the stores (which in Denver outnumber the total of Starbucks and McDonalds combined) that mimic your local wine shop, with friendly, knowledgeable staff who pair cannabis to the user as wine to food discussing the strains of the plant’s healing and hallucinogenic properties. And just like alcohol, the Cannabis industry is suffering from it’s own “prohibition” and confusing regulations. The legislation and laws governing its medicinal and recreational sales and compliance for investing are not for the faint of heart. We are lucky to have two of the industries most talented attorneys join the discussion to add their knowledge and insight into the future of the industry. Allison Margolin, Columbia University ’91 and Harvard Law ’02 graduate known as “LA’s Dopest Attorney,” talks about the burgeoning opportunities and pitfalls of the growing cannabis industry in which she specializes at her Beverly Hills firm Margolin & Lawrence. Neil Kaufman, Binghamton ’81, Managing Member, Kaufman & Associates, LLC, Corporate & Securities Counsel to the Legal Cannabis Industry™. Neil Kaufman combines 33 years of practicing corporate and securities law at the highest levels with extensive experience and passion for the cannabis industry, participating in more than $300 million of cannabis-industry financing transactions. Free for Members; $15 for Guests. This event is proudly co-sponsored by The Princeton Club of NewYork and the Princeton Alumni

FEATURED EVENT Averting the Plastipocalypse: The Frontlines of the Fight Against Plastic WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19, 6:30PM WINE RECEPTION, 7:00PM LECTURE

The Power of Personal Connections & Kindness TUESDAY, JUNE 11, 6:30PM WINE RECEPTION, 7:00PM LECTURE Join us for a spectacular presentation by Laura Schroff, the author of the #1 NewYork Times and international bestseller, An Invisible Thread , as she introduces her new book, Angels on Earth , and Dr. Dale Atkins, the bestselling author of The Kindness Advantage: Cultivating Compassionate and Connected Children . Both women have “lived a life of kindness” as they each present their individual heartfelt stories on this fascinating subject. In her first book, An Invisible Thread , Laura Schroff told the remarkable story of her unlikely friendship with Maurice Mazyck, an 11-year old homeless panhandler she met on a Manhattan street corner in 1986 and developed a decades long unlikely friendship she called “an invisible thread.” Now, Laura has collected some of those compelling, and poignant stories in Angels on Earth. In her 30-year career in advertising sales, Laura has worked with companies including Time Inc. and Conde Nast. Laura was part of the team that launched USA Today , In Style , and Teen PEOPLE . Laura was the NY Ad Manager at MS. Magazine and the Associate Publisher of Brides Magazine . Death March TUESDAY, JUNE 25, 6:30PM WINE RECEPTION, 7:00PM LECTURE Author Jack Hersch Illuminates his father’s death march escape in a compelling new book. Surviving one Nazi death march is amazing, surviving two is astonishing. But escaping from both is nothing short of a miracle. Jack Hersch grew up hearing the stories of how his father, Dave Hersch, twice escaped the brutal death marches forced on concentration camp prisoners by the Nazis at the end of World

War II.What he didn’t know about his father’s experience was the incredible confluence of luck, fate, and will to survive that made Dave unique in the history of the Holocaust, which is illuminated in Death March Escape:The Remarkable Story of a ManWho Twice Escaped From the Nazi Holocaust , A few years after his father died in 2001, a cousin in Israel informed Jack that a mysterious photo of his father had surfaced – on the website for Mauthausen Concentration Camp. Unlike many of the brutal depictions of concentration camp survivors recorded by Allied troops, this picture was a headshot of Dave as a smiling teenager modeling contemporary clothes.Where did this photo come from, and how did Mauthausen’s museum acquire it? The answer to this mystery would take dedicated detective work and require Jack to confront the unflinching truth about the most nightmarish concentration camp in all of WorldWar II – so very different from the colorful escape stories his father related every Passover. To learn how that photo was tied to Dave’s courageous struggle for survival, Jack would walk in his father’s footsteps, face the horrific reality of the Mauthausen and Gusen concentration camps where Dave was held, and stand on the roads where his father made his incalculably daring bids for freedom. Death March Escape is an account of what it takes to survive with your soul intact and to never surrender. It’s a love letter from a son as he captures the true meaning of heroism, and a warning for anyone who would ignore the brutal lessons of history. Host Alan Segan. Free for Members; $15 for Guests. Are you considering applying to business school this year or in the future? The MBA admissions landscape has never been more competitive – how can you make sure that you stand out from the crowd? A panel of admissions officers from top schools will help you maximize your chances of getting into your dream business school. They will also be available to meet prospective applicants before and after the discussion.Through this event, you will learn what you need to do to craft a strong application and improve your chances of gaining acceptance to the top business schools. Aaron Finder (Williams ’17) and Elizabeth Katen-Narvell (Princeton ’13 andWharton MBA ’18) will moderate. Participant schools include: Harvard, Stanford,Wharton, Columbia, NYU. Host Aaron Finder. Free for Members; $15 for Guests. MBA Panel TUESDAY,AUGUST 6, 6:30PM WINE RECEPTION, 7:30PM PRESENTATION

Together with climate change, plastic pollution has quickly become one of the most talked about environmental issues today. With the equivalent of a garbage truck full of plastic entering our oceans every minute, we have put so much plastic into the environment that it is now in our drinking water, our seafood, and even the air we breathe. As our understanding of the scope of this crisis expands from impacts on sea turtles and whales to concern about human health, corporations and governments are starting to take action. Greenpeace USA Oceans Campaign Director, John Hocevar, will share stories and insights from his experience working with activists, corporate executives, and politicians to keep plastic pollution out of our oceans, our neighborhoods, and our bodies. Since joining Greenpeace in 2004, Hocevar has spearheaded numerous projects, including efforts to improve the sustainability of seafood sold in supermarkets and to establish a network of ocean sanctuaries. A licensed submarine pilot and experienced SCUBA diver, Hocevar has explored the Chukchi Sea, Amazon Reef, Bering Sea and the Antarctic Peninsula in a research submarine. Hocevar earned a bachelor’s degree in evolutionary ecology from the University of Connecticut in 1990 and a master’s degree in marine biology, focused on coral reef conservation, from Nova University in 1993. HostWilliam Mckeever. Free for Members; $15 for Guests. Infrastructure Redefined: Retail 6th in a Series on the Future of Our Nation’s Infrastructure MONDAY, JUNE 10, 6:30PM RECEPTION, 7:00PM PROGRAM We are what we consume, and there are few things as closely studied as consumer behavior. Our buying habits are largely informed by what we value, and those values have historically found expression in the built spaces where we buy. From Main Street to mega-malls, much of our social lives and interactions has been tied to retail spaces, and as our world changes, so do those spaces. In the 6th installment of our ongoing panel series,“Infrastructure Redefined”, we will explore the disruptions occurring in the real estate of retail spaces. From the growing impact of e-commerce, to the sometimes-primordial nature of our shopping experience, to the re- imagining of what a retail experience can be, we will examine the changes occurring in retail structures, and how these changes might impact how goods and services are bought and sold. What effects are there likely to be on American society as a consequence? $10 for Members; $ 20 for Guests.
