Followed by the first session conducted in March, our leadership team learned further about various leadership styles, how to apply them in different situations and how organization culture is influenced by leadership styles.

Colleagues from across the departments went through this essential training to learn life saving skills in the event of medical emergency.

EHS & SFS CHAMPION With the initiative of our Hygiene team, a new reward program recognizing colleagues who are committed and stringently following Hygiene, Health & Safety standards in their day-to-day operation was imposed - "EHS & SFS Champion." The aim of this program is to encourage the employees to consistently perform the job in a safe manner and influence other employees too.

We are pleased to share that Chef Nikolaos is our new Executive Chef at Shangri-La Abu Dhabi Qaryat Al Beri Complex, joined us on 11th May 2021. Chef Nikolaos is no stranger to Shangri-La family. His previous role was Executive Chef at Shangri-La Hotel in Dubai. Prior to joining Shangri-La Group, Chef Nikolaos held the position of Cluster Executive Sous Chef at Intercontinental Dubai, Festival City, and Executive Chef at Nola Social House. He is a culinary talent that will bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the Qaryat Al Beri complex.

HAPPY ' NINGS AT SLAD & THAD

CELEBRATING #EARTHDAY 2021

SLAD and THAD Qaryat Al Beri has a kilometer stretch of private beach leading to 200 year old monument of Al Maqtaa Fort. We have created a new plan of actionforourplanetbyarranging a beach clean up, three times a week for the whole month of April to participate the Earth Day Celebration.

Each department had a chance to show their creativity by using recycled materials to make a wonderful Easter Centerpiece. This time, HR Team visited each department to take photos of their centerpiece, compiled the photos which was judged by the ExComs virtually.

COLLEAGUES GRAND IFTAR

During the Holy month of Ramadan our SLAD and THAD fasting Colleagues had 2 days Grand Iftar for the first time in Traders Beach area. The colorful evening included varieties of Food and Live cooking stations which our colleagues enjoyed celebrating this special day.

On 12 June 2021, SLAD & THAD hosted a series of free activities in celebration of Global Wellness Day aligning with Shangri-La’s core value of hospitality from the heart, which includes the concern of the health and well-being of our guests, colleagues and communities. We invited community members to join us for free Yoga and HIIT sessions and offered healthy breakfast and full day of free beach & pool access to all participants.

Our Objectives for this year were to,

·Strengthen the awareness of wellness activities at the SLAD and THAD during Global Wellness Day. ·Highlight key CSR initiatives that foster positive wellness growth for guests, colleagues and the community. ·Provide a platform in Abu Dhabi where to pause and think, even if for just one day of the year, be free from stress of everyday city life and bad habits. ·To raise awareness about living well and increase motivation, not just for today, but for the rest of the year.

EVERYONE WANTS TO LIVE ON TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN BUT ALL THE HAPPINESS AND GROWTH OCCURS WHILE YOU'RE CLIMBING IT.

Respecting and following all safety precautions but keeping the spirit of togetherness alive, we celebrated the National Days of Syria, Cameroon, Jordan, Ethiopia, Philippines and Russia in the months of April, May and June.
