If you are 50+ and retired from at least one occupation, you are eligible to join the league. ANCC fields two teams which are very competitive in league play - one at ARL and one at FFX. During the season, each team plays 12 other clubs twice, once at home and once at their course, for a 24-match season. The home club provides practice balls and waives green fees. The home club also provides morning pastries, coffee, and a sit-down buffet lunch afterwards. The league’s season runs from early April through early October. Play is on Thursday mornings and is four-ball match play with a 3-point Nassau, combined with a sweepstakes competition.

We use handicaps in all matches and our team members have handicap indexes ranging from the single digits through the thirties. As a team member, you will be assigned to play in 8 or more matches during the season and may volunteer to play any matches to which you are not assigned. The 2022 Army-Navy teams will be put together within the next few months and eligible members can sign up for either team. Visit the teams’ web pages on the website for signup instructions. Signups are open from now until 31 January for the ARL Team and until 1 March for the FFX Team. The pages for the two teams can be found on the ANCC website here. The team captains for 2022 are Mike Downs (703) 317-1822 or [email protected], Jim Schroeder (703) 237-1939 or jms.3821@gmail. com, and Frank Kyle (703) 405-4703 or [email protected] for the ARL team; and Mike Golembieski (703) 855-7580 or mpgolem@ cox.net, Dennis Bruns (703) 534-7913 or [email protected] and Russ Powers (571) 643-2908 or [email protected], for the FFX team. Sign-up as soon as possible!

2022 SENIOR MEN’S GOLF ORGANIZATION SMGO invites all ANCC members age 55 and over to participate in our men’s senior golf program in 2022. This is organized play that develops new friendships and enhances your enjoyment of the game of golf and Club facilities. Let us hope that covid and its variants are behind us and we can have a great 2022 year of golf and lunches! The SMGO program features an ABCD scramble at 8:30 a.m. typically on the first and third Wednesday of each month, at the Arlington course, commencing in April and continuing through October. Other tournaments may be scheduled when play dates are available. All ANCC members are welcome regardless of their handicap.

If you were a member in 2021, your membership will automatically be renewed for 2022. A sign-up list for new members to the SMGO will be posted in the Arlington Golf Shop by 1 December 2021. If you do not want to participate in 2022, please indicate your decision to be deleted on the sign- up sheet at the Arlington Golf Shop or you may contact Tim Campen at [email protected] or (703) 901-3609. New members who may be leaving the area for the winter are encouraged to sign-up prior to departing. The 2022 dues will be set prior to the opening of the season. Dues cover the cost of lunch in the Clubhouse at the completion of each of the 14 ABCD Scrambles... best lunch deal in town! Standard cart fees are charged for each event in which a member participates. A $10.00 entry fee for the prize pool and the cost of coffee and pastries, available before each ABCD Scramble, is collected at check-in prior to the 8:30 AM tee off.

GOLF CONTINUED

As a January chill settles over the area, Army Navy golfers have an alternative to donning cold weather apparel and swinging hard into the wind that always seems in your face. The club has purchased two HD Golf simulators to give members another option. Whether you want to work on your game or get friends together to play a virtual round at Pebble Beach (or one of the other championship courses available), the simulators, which are in the tent on the Arlington Ground Floor Patio, offer options for you. How it works : Each simulator is available for 2-hour blocks during the hours listed below. The fee is $100 per block. One member or spouse can reserve the slot on the tee sheet, just as they would any other tee time -- 3 days in advance online or by calling the Pro Shop. (A lottery is not required at this time.) Up to six members may share a block. If you have a time booked in advance, there’s no need to stop in the Golf Shop. You can go directly to the simulator tent and a staff member will be there to check you in and help you get set up for your game of choice. The simulator fee can be split among others in your group at that time. GOLF SIMULATOR HELPS KEEP YOU SWINGING IN WINTER!

Walk-ons : If you don’t have a time reserved, drop by the pro shop and if a simulator slot is open, you may be allowed to sign up for a shorter increment of time, and the fee will be prorated. Know before you go : Golf attire is required, although soft-soled shoes or sneakers are allowed. Food and beverages bought through the club’s food outlets are allowed in the lounge areas associated with each simulator, but not in the simulator cage. You should bring your own set of clubs and can share clubs with others if you choose. Juniors and guests must be accompanied by the booking member or spouse.

The ANCC Women’s 18-hole Golf Organization welcomes new members in anticipation of its 2021 season! While organized Play Days (generally Tuesday and Friday mornings) will not start until early April, please let us know as soon as possible if you have an interest in joining us for the 2021 season – or why not join us for our Spring Luncheon? For more information about membership, please see our webpage by clicking here and contact our membership chair Ruth Daly at [email protected]. WGO-18: WOMEN’S 18-HOLE GOLF ORGANIZATION

This year is the 30th Anniversary of CWGO and turning 30 has never looked so good! We will be marking this very auspicious occasion with celebrations throughout the year along with special remembrances and recognition of those who have gone before us. To that end, we are very grateful to Carol DeLong and Mary Kathryn Horner who had the vision for a women’s golf organization that caters to the hectic working schedule and the will power to get it started. That first year, 80 women joined and since then, CWGO has grown to over 150 women. While the golf season will official start the last weekend in March, CWGO will be hosting some fun social events to get us through the winter months. Our first one was a Holiday Happy Hour and this month, look for emails inviting members to simulator play times and another happy hour. For those working women who are looking for some fun and fellowship while playing golf, consider joining CWGO. Look for the brochure in the ladies locker room. We would love to have you join us! CWGO: CAREERWOMEN’S GOLF ORGANIZATION

WNHGO:WOMEN’SNINE HOLEGOLFORGANIZATION

WNHGO welcomes new members throughout the year. Women golfers of all skill levels are invited to play in our group, provided you have a USGA-registered handicap. Any questions, contact the Membership Chairman, Maureen Carita at [email protected] or (703) 883-7131. During the 2021 season, we welcomed four new members: Susan Ervin, Moira Flanders, Kathy Lipari, and Ginger Saba, and we hope you’ll consider joining us in 2022. WNHGO Winter Golf is in full swing with 25 participants. Sign-up sheets are posted in the ARL and FFX Ladies’ Locker Rooms. A total of 10 rounds of golf must be played only at the Army Navy courses. Players are to post their scores on the grid sheets on the locker room bulletin boards. The season started 1 November and ends 31 March. For further information, email Chairman Mary Fields at [email protected].
