HardWork The Key to a Successful Melaleuca Business
The Main Thing Stephen Covey always pointed out that “the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.” At Melaleuca, the “main thing” for growing your business is enroling new customers. No other activity is as rewarding as enroling new customers and mentoring them to do the same. Fortunately, enroling new customers is not difficult. Very few people find that they can’t do it. It’s just that they need to find the time or make the time to get out and do it. It’s that self-discipline that seems to be the hard part for most people who see others succeeding but don’t quite get there themselves. Those who build big Melaleuca businesses have the persistence to put themselves on a rigorous regimen of enroling one customer after another. They spend their free time adding to their contact list, calling to set appointments, and introducing new customers to the products and to the business opportunity. That’s the “hard work” I’m talking about. Actually, it’s not “hard” – and very few people would actually call it “work.” Once they get
into the swing of it, it’s really a lot of fun! But for those who do not have a calendar or a plan of when they are going to work their business, make appointments to do presentations, and enrol new customers this week, the hard work seems to be getting themselves to go out and do it. Setting Goals So what is the solution? How do you discipline yourself to get out and get to work? My counsel is to first write down your goals. Sit down with your spouse and decide where you want to be ten years from now, five years from now, one year from now and where you want to be at the end of Fast Track. Then develop a plan to get there. Write it down! Make a commitment to yourself as to what you are going to do to make your dreams come true. Remind yourself that this is your life! You are alive right now! You can’t keep waiting until you can find the time. Life is passing you by! This is it! We all hope for a life after this life. We probably don’t know much about what the next life will be like. But we have this one
now. Let’s not waste it! Let’s make the absolute most of it that we can. Share your goals, commitments, and plans with someone else. We get more committed when we tell others what we plan to do. And then follow through! If you want to make your life the best that it can be, write down your goals and your personal action plan, and get to work. Don’t procrastinate any further! Call your support team and tell them that you are ready to go to work! Or you could wait until you have more time, but then nothing changes, does it?

Hard work. It doesn’t sound very appealing. It’s old-fashioned and it surely is not considered romantic. But it is the key to almost every successful business venture. When people ask me, “What is the key to building a successful Melaleuca business?” I know they are looking for some profound statement or magic formula. But the answer is very simple. Clearly, all those who have created the most successful businesses have one thing in common: They are hard workers – very hard workers! And they are persistent! In our business, persistence seems to trump all other noble traits! People who keep going, never give up, and never quit, they always make it to the finish line! The good news about all this is that success can be had by every single person who wants it bad enough! There is no elusive “magic formula” that is attainable by the “fortunate” or the “few” who discover it! Success with Melaleuca appears to be an absolutely sure thing for those who persistently

Only those who know where they want to go and discipline themselves to set aside time on a daily basis to work their Melaleuca business will reach their goals. To be sure, there are many distractions. In our world there are literally thousands of ways we can spend our free time. Working your business can always wait “one more day.” The fact that Melaleuca is a “part-time” business makes it even more difficult to stay focused. We get caught up doing things that seem more urgent (or more fun) in the moment. Yet it is clear that only those who are disciplined and stay focused on their goals will reach them.

still being a caring mother of 2 children isn’t what she wanted for her family. Justyna started working hard on her Melaleuca business and with the help of her enroler and support team she was able to reach her goal she set for herself, to be able to make enough money to replace her income she was earning in her full time job. Autumn 2019, she made another life-changing decision together with her husband. In June 2020, they moved back to Poland together with their three children. It was always a goal for Justyna and her husband to build a house with a big backyard and a playground for the kids. She knew that together with the amazing opportunity Melaleuca offers she will be able to reach this goal together with her husband. “But you know what the most beautiful thing is, I have changed. Melaleuca The Wellness Company has opened my eyes to a different work model. Thanks to that I gained confidence, I am not afraid of talking to other people and leaving my comfort zone. Now I can help others achieve their own goals, deriving enormous joy and satisfaction from it.” This would be her biggest achievement she gained from working with Melaleuca. At the same time Justyna says that she couldn’t have done it without the support of the whole KDS-Team which is her Key to Success. “With our great company it is simply safe and I know that I will achieve all my goals.”
The company immediately got her interested and she saw great opportunities. Although initially she was an introverted person and not believing in her skills, she started to learn and develop the business systematically. “There were also times when I wanted to quit, but I always had great support from my enroler and my husband, both of whom still support and help me today.” says the new Senior Director. Thanks to the fact that she didn’t give up working with Melaleuca, after one year the whole family could afford to return to Poland accomplishing their greatest dream. Achieving this dream also allowed her to expanding her contact list an open many new doors of opportunity to help others. Her quest to help others has also brought a level of comfort and security to their family. “We feel safe, and I don’t have to do the usual work. I can be with my son and family and enjoy every moment together without rushing anywhere.” - comments Paulina. In her opinion, the key elements of success in Melaleuca are consistency with the 7 Critical Business Building Activities, teamwork, and constant contact with the customers and personal development, which helps to build confidence. One should not forget about patience and striving to achieve the goals set for oneself as well as getting to know the needs of our customers and helping to meet them. “I am happy that I have been given such a great opportunity for a better life and can pass this opportunity on to others. I thank my team for being with me, trusting me and showing me the way. I am happy to see the success of my team and above all that, their dreams come true. Paulina is a mother of a 3 year old son named Adam who is her biggest motivation and Why. Her inspiration and rock in the surf is her husband who always supported her along her way to become Senior Director. Before she started her adventure with Melaleuca, she lived with her family for 8 years in the UK. The constant longing for her family home and homeland caused them to balance between chasing a dignified life outside the country and her family in Poland. Her job she had before building a business with Melaleuca for 7 years lacked support, and there was a lack of healthy interpersonal relationships. She mentions herself that it was a difficult time for her. Through many hours of work in difficult conditions, her health deteriorated greatly. The rivalry between the employees was increasing and her earnings were inadequate to her commitment. When Adam was born, he changed her life significantly. “The most important thing for me was to give him as much love and time as possible. I wanted to have space to develop interpersonal relationships and try to relieve my husband of his financial burden.” It was also the time when Paulina met the person who introduced her to Melaleuca.
Justyna Kołodziej is a dedicated mother of 3 children who’s ages range from 10 months old to 5 years old. Since becoming a customer 3 years ago she has been an avid user of Melaleuca products, but it was her enroler Patrycja Włodarska who introduced her to the amazing opportunities that Melaleuca offers. “I can now fulfill my dreams thanks to the opportunity that my friend Patrycja Włodarska gave me, for which I am very grateful. It was her, who showed me Melaleuca, taught me everything, and believed in me.” Justyna states. Before being introduced to Melaleuca Justyna worked for 8 years in Netherlands as a team- leader harvesting roses 6 days a week in order to support her family. When Justyna was introduced to Melaleuca’s incredible products she was on maternity leave which was coming to an end soon. This was a daunting thought for Justyna as she contemplated having to go back to her full-time job. She felt that working up to 12 hours a day and

There is no one way to help someone achieve Director status at Melaleuca. We’ll repeat : there is no one way . Everyone has their own journey. Everyone has their own story. But… Are there common traits among newly enrolled customers who do find a way to advance to Director? Are there activities that produce greater results for those mentoring potential Directors? Gaining a higher vantage point helps reveal the answers. It’s true that to understand the forest, sometimes you have to look beyond the trees. Get up in the air. Take the bird’s-eye view. From high above the individual trees, the nature of the forest begins to take shape. In the same way, looking at Directors as a group – as a combined collection of experience – begins to paint a picture that transcends any single Director or any single business. To gain these insights, Leadership in Action surveyed hundreds of Melaleuca Marketing Executives who had earned Director status and beyond. We wanted to better understand their collective experience. Were there trends or patterns that might prove insightful for those striving to build their business by developing Directors?
Directors Come fromAll Backgrounds While some demographic characteristics are dominant across all Melaleuca Preferred Customers and Marketing Executives (married women), the Director “forest” is made up of a extensive array of different “trees.” Those who achieve Director come from a diversity of educational backgrounds (from high school to post-graduate degrees). Annual household income is also diverse and aligned with national averages. While the top career background of survey respondents was health- care related, there is near equal representation across other backgrounds. A little more than half of respondents had worked in a multilevel marketing business in the past, while the remainder had not. In short, there is room in the Director forest for all kinds. Prejudging someone’s ability to achieve this first important milestone can be impossible and ultimately may turn an enroler’s attention away from someone with great potential. As one respondent stated, “Never prejudge anyone. You never know what they are

Watching and listening to how their enroler presents the information, answers questions, handles concerns, and invites enrolments will set the tone and provide the language the new builder will use for years to come. Discover a Clear and Strong Why It’s no secret that any goal worth achieving requires work. Work requires determination. And true determination requires a reason. A rationale for the labor. An answer to the question “Why am I doing this?” All Melaleuca Marketing Executives need to clearly understand their why for building a Melaleuca business. Those striving to reach Director are not exceptions. While those whys are wide and varied and often seemingly modest, they are no less important. Debt reduction. Additional income. A wedding. A vacation. A chance to spend more time with family. They all matter. And often it is up to the enroler to dig deep and discover what is inside each builder to help them reach for Director. Of all factors that might help a builder achieve Director status, survey respondents listed a “clear and strong why ” above all others.
Here’s what we learned: SpeedMatters
Considering that Melaleuca’s top leaders have been encouraging newly enrolled Melaleuca Preferred Customers to get off to a quick start for decades, this should come as no surprise. Still, the importance of achieving Director status quickly cannot be overemphasized.

Nearly two- thirds of survey respondents said the Strategy Session their enroler held with them was helpful. A further 30% said it was key to their advancement. Only 5% reported it had very little impact – and that was because they felt their enroler had rushed the session. 30%
Of those surveyed, 73% reached Director in their first 90 days . After that, the likelihood of someone achieving that most critical of early milestones reduces dramatically.

The reasons for making the leap to Director early are many: It creates a lasting, duplicable story. It cements the relationship between builder and enroler. It leverages initial energy and desire. Perhaps not least importantly, speed to advancement predicts future financial success. Going back to December 2017, we looked at all Marketing Executives who have advanced to Director and have continued to build their businesses for at least a year after. On average, those who achieved Director in their first 60 days went on to earn 3.4 times as much as those who took more than 90 days! Those who
