A MESSAGE FROM CEO FRANK VANDERSLOOT

Melaleuca is the champion of the little guy, and when we say that, we mean we’re champions of the people who were not born into wealth – the guy who did not climb the corporate ladder, the guy who didn’t get the lucky break, the mother who chose to stay home to raise her own children, and the single mom who works from 9 to 5 at a job where she doesn’t make enough to even come close to making ends meet. Those are our people! They are the little guys! They are our heroes! When we celebrate within Melaleuca, we often celebrate the Senior, Executive, National, and Corporate Directors, and they deserve our applause. They are the people you see on the cover of the Leadership in Action magazine, and they were once little guys. In a sense, however, they are no longer little guys. But they have hundreds of little guys in their organisations who are still little guys but who are working their way up through the ranks. I want to say thank you to those who are working themselves up through the ranks – those who are still little guys at Melaleuca.

First, I want to say thank you to the hundreds of thousands who have never enrolled a single customer but who purchase products from Melaleuca every single month. Over 79% of our Preferred Customer have never enrolled another customer, yet they reap the long-term benefits of being Melaleuca customers for life. In fact, most of Melaleuca’s revenues come from folks who are just

time. I’d like to point out that once you have enrolled your first customer, you’ve proven you have everything it takes to become a Senior or Executive Director. That’s how they started. You’ve just got to do it a little more! Sometimes, I think we forget the tremendous value of a single customer who stays with us for life. If you have customers who stay for life, the residual

knowledge to keep customers for life. We would invite you to become educated about our products and to educate others. We have the most powerful wellness products in the marketplace. No one can match their quality, and no one can match their effectiveness. Our future depends on how well we explain that to our customer base. Your future income will depend on how long customers stay with you. We invite you to join us in the long-term perspective of creating customers for life. There is immense power in residual income. At Melaleuca, we have tens of thousands of Marketing Executives who only have a few customers who purchase from Melaleuca every month – often fewer than 10 customers. They just get a small check every month. Yet, today, having just a few customers has earned them thousands of dollars. So if you’ve got a few customers, you should see yourself as a winner! These checks add up over time. You only need a few long-term customers to create a long- term financial reward.

But if that’s the case, what would a few more customers do for you? What if you doubled the amount of customers you have? What if you tripled or quadrupled the number of customers you have? If you did, you would have an army of people helping you build your organisation. That’s all that Executive Directors have done. They started with a few customers like you, but they never stopped building. They kept building, and over time it has added up. And now they have a substantial residual income. If the little guys keep going, the day comes when they themselves are no longer little guys and their job is to help all the little guys in their organisation. But even those who only have three or four customers should see themselves as winners! Because they have proven they have what it takes, and they are on their way to building something of some magnitude. It’s a process; it takes time. But it’s worth every single minute you can give it. The reward is tremendous, and it’s a long-term reward! Residual income.

The value of residual income month after month and year after year adds up. We have thousands in Melaleuca who’ve already made hundreds of thousands of dollars, and hundreds who have made millions. We’ve paid out over US$5.4 billion to date. And that amount increases every single month. So thanks again to the little guys! You are on your way! And a big thank- you to the Senior, Executive, National, and Corporate Directors who’ve demonstrated that it can be done and who are helping others reach their goals.

“To enhance the lives of those we touch…” is the opening line of our Mission Statement. The word ‘enhance’, or improve, is the core objective at Melaleuca. Whether in the form of Compensation Plan updates or new product offerings, the goal is to enhance the lives of our customers and Marketing Executives. In September 2016, we introduced the fantastic New Day! Compensation Plan, which has inspired new levels of success and leadership development in Marketing Executives everywhere. The time has come to take it one step further – to provide even greater enhancements. Recently, the September Launch Event was held in beautiful Warsaw, where more than 800 people from all over Europe attended. At this event, exciting compensation enhancements were announced. The successful Leadership Growth bonus will now be replaced by a Critical Activity Bonus. This bonus allows you to earn even more commissions – for simply doing the activities you do anyway. Isn’t that good news? Another enhancement we have made is as a newly advancing Director 3-6, you will be eligible to get the full advancement bonus paid out in the month of advancement. As she shared her love of the products with others, her business quickly began to grow. But for Violeta, the monthly checks were not the most rewarding part of her business. “I love it when my friends tell me how much they enjoy the way they feel and look thanks to their Melaleuca products,” Violeta says. “My most favorite moment was when my only sister told me that she loves the products. That meant so much to me.” Violeta credits much of her success to her passion for the products and the Melaleuca mission statement. “I’m not an expert in the Compensation Plan,” she says. “I just believe in what I am doing and love sharing Melaleuca with others. When you genuinely care about others, you want to share Melaleuca with them—it’s not work.” Violeta recognizes the importance of relationships in building a Melaleuca business. “I love talking to others,” she explains. “Before I start a conversation about Melaleuca, I try to figure out what is most important for that person. Then I let them know about the Melaleuca product that will help them reach that goal.” Violeta believes that once you have something that can help others, it’s important to share it. “I really believe that I have a mission to let others know about Melaleuca,” Violeta says. “Through Melaleuca we can all be healthier, happier, and more financially independent. You just have believe it, and of course, work for it.”

ACHIEVEMENT LEADERS The European Achievement Leaders are those businesses with the highest contribution index. The contribution index is the product of the net increase in their Organisational Preferred Customers during the prior 60 days, multiplied by the number of each leader’s personally enroled Directors, plus their number of personally enroled customers. Membership of this elite group is reviewed bi-monthly. In order to be recognised as a member of this team, leaders must submit a picture to Melaleuca.

When Violeta was first introduced to Melaleuca, she was immediately impressed by the products, “I had searched a long time for products that were both high quality and safe,” she says. “So when I saw what Melaleuca offered, I couldn’t wait to use them in my home!” Violetta was not disappointed. “They exceeded all my expectations,” she says. “They made it a real pleasure to clean. Set Appointments

I want you to notice something about the Seven Critical Activities, the first four in particular. You cannot do Critical Activity 3, Share Overviews, before you do Critical Activity 2 or Critical Activity 1. That’s not how it works. These activities are in this order because that’s the order you’ll need to do them in. Before you can hold a Strategy Session, you need to present Melaleuca: An Overview and enrol a customer. And before you can do that, you’ll need to invite someone you know to your Overview. There’s a reason the first Critical Activity is not Set Appointments. Before you invite someone to your Overview, you should already have a relationship. The first thing to do is add their name to your contact list and begin establishing a relationship. Initial Leadership Status Leaders at these statuses have made a more serious effort to build a Melaleuca business. Those who have reached these leadership statuses have not only invested enough time to refer several customers, but they have also helped some of those customers start a business and become Marketing Executives. Those Marketing Executives have, in turn, referred additional customers who purchase Melaleuca products each month. Commissions are paid based on the development of customers and the development of leaders who help others reach their goals.

Their relationship with Melaleuca is primarily because they love Melaleuca products. Their “status” is determined by how many customers they have referred. A Marketing Executive has at least one customer. A Marketing Executive 2 has referred at least two customers and a Marketing Executive 3 has referred at least four customers. While these individuals may not be considered serious business builders, their customers (like the vast majority of Melaleuca customers) come from word-of-mouth referrals. Therefore, the overall contribution of these individuals is significant.

While they may not work their businesses full time, it is essential that they invest some time each month nurturing, training, and helping those in their marketing organisations. Melaleuca advocates that Marketing Executives keep their full-time jobs and work their Melaleuca businesses in their spare time. However, some Executive Directors at the higher income statuses do work their businesses close to full time. Melaleuca strongly advocates that Marketing Executives do not quit their full-time jobs until their Melaleuca incomes far surpass the incomes they receive from their full-time employers. SEVEN CRITICAL BUSINESS-BUILDING ACTIVITIES

A few years ago, I set out to enjoy some time away with family. We were making a long drive to arrive at our much-anticipated destination, and I was committed to making good time. I soon noticed the car running low on gas, but I somehow convinced myself I could make it just a little bit further – then a bit further – and so on until all of a sudden the car sputtered and stopped dead in its tracks. This unexpected halt completely derailed our plans and set us back by several hours. All of the excitement and anticipation of our vacation quickly faded as the afternoon turned to evening while we figured out how to get going again. There’s a reason people don’t wait until the tank is bone dry before they fill up – they know they could end up stranded! Even though I already knew a car without gas wouldn’t run, I forced myself to experience firsthand how frustrating it is – and how quickly it can derail our plans. It doesn’t matter the make, model, year, features, or upgrades – a car without fuel or a full battery isn’t going anywhere.

Marketing Executive, there’s no way to move forward if you don’t have anyone to call. On the flip side, if you consistently add names to your contact list – at least one name per day – you’ll have all the fuel you need to get where you want to go.

Krista stays balanced with these steps: 1. You. We all need to stay focused on enroling new customers every month. It makes the most sense to do it within the first week to 10 days of the month, so if your new customers do want to build, you have time to help. They get to try their products, have a Strategy Session, and schedule some action. 2. The new. Help your new business partners enrol customers and do the Seven Critical Business- Building Activities. 3. The few. There are some “old” business partners who are serious about working with you and they and their teams will need some attention as well.” Our compensation plan rewards you for living our mission: To enhance the lives of those we touch by helping people reach their goals. SM The more people you help, the more your business grows and the more residual income you’ll build. Your success is dependent upon helping those who are already enrolled, while at the same time continuing to find new people whose lives could be enhanced by our exceptional product line (which I believe is everyone). If you’re not doing it already, make a habit of adding at least one name to your contact list each day and make at least 20 phone calls per week. It’s the only way to ensure you’ll have the fuel and acceleration you’ll need to arrive at your dream destination. With a healthy contact list in one hand and a phone in the other, you’re ready to set out on the adventure of a lifetime!

Keeping your contact list full does you no good if you don’t pick up the phone and make calls. The highest achievers find success because they make 20 calls each week. 5. The contact list is the first critical step in building a successful Melaleuca business.

“Your contact list is your inventory. You’re not in business unless you have your contact list. But you’re not going to create a successful business unless you know how to make that come to life.”

Just as a car with a full tank won’t go anywhere until you step on the gas pedal, a full contact list doesn’t get your business anywhere until you pick up the phone. Making phone calls and setting appointments is how you accelerate the business. As Melaleuca CEO Frank VanderSloot says, “If you do the first two Critical Business-Building Activities, all the other activities will follow. Do those activities and you will prosper.” Making phone calls and setting appointments are the only way you can move forward and ultimately arrive at your dream destination. One of the biggest mistakes leaders can make is focusing their time on helping existing team members while neglecting to consistently add names to their own contact list and make approaches. Of course we want to team up and help others reach their goals, but we first must lead by example. Our current Marketing Executive of the Year, National Director Krista Wineinger, says it best: “My motto for keeping a balance of self and team is ‘you, the new, and the few.’”
