Building lasting legacies around the world
Passion to Heal SM is a life-changing program that sends American dermatologists and ophthalmologists to Kenya, India and Ecuador to provide vital, high calibre dermatological care to communities that would otherwise be unable to access these services. The impact of the program is profoundly significant in many ways. Through 32 medical volunteer trips since 2012, the program has served more than 30,930 patients through screening and treatment, and screened more than 18,275 local students, while providing critical knowledge transfer through ongoing capacity building and continuing education of local medical professionals. Passion to Heal SM delivers a meaningful and engaging program to members of the medical community, and leaves a lasting legacy in the United States and around the world through connection, capacity-building and healing. Passion To Heal SM 2018 program objectives
Before Passion to Heal SM , doctors and medical staff at
Baraka Hospital were under real pressure to educate, diagnose and treat skin diseases and conditions. These trips bring American health professionals to work with us to provide much-needed care and expertise to marginalized communities in rural Kenya and India. This is why, trip after trip, we have local community members traveling hundreds of miles, lining up to seek the services offered by our volunteer dermatology professionals.
Screening, diagnosis and treatment of local communities
Health care capacity building of local physicians
American physician engagement
Support medical infrastructure in developing communities overseas

Testimonials
I was truly humbled by the patient experience and am really thankful for everything the local community did to help me treat the patients there.
I felt such a strong sense of purpose while seeing patients at the clinic, where I was reminded of why I went into medicine in the first place. It is an incredible program, linking medical providers, patients and people across different countries and cultures.
This was such a unique and amazing experience! It was life-changing for me and I have already told all my colleagues about taking advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
It was such an amazing experience. I felt such a strong sense of purpose while seeing patients at the clinic, where I was reminded of why I went into medicine in the first place. The true need for medical care at Baraka clinic compared to what we typically deal with in the US was so striking. I really felt like I was doing something. It is an incredible program, linking medical providers, patients and people across different countries and cultures.
